- Go to opening nights at Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη "Χρήστος Τσεβάς". Free entry, the artists in the room, and a crowd that wants to talk about the work. The best gallery experience there is.
- Look at the building too at Περί Τεχνών Καρτέρης. Galleries often live in the most interesting architecture in town — converted warehouses, old banks, heritage houses.
- Kids are welcome (usually). Most galleries are fine with children; the contemporary ones especially. Call ahead if you're unsure.
- Small galleries take risks. Artist-run spaces show the work the big institutions won't. Some of it's baffling; some of it's the future.
