Eden Gardens — visitor guide

India's oldest major ground — cricket has been played at Eden Gardens since 1864 — and still its most atmospheric when 68,000 are packed in. It sits in the Maidan beside the Hooghly river, and Esplanade on the Blue Line metro is the station to use; the Railways even ran special late trains from there after the 2023 World Cup game.

Kolkata Metro — Blue Line

Esplanade on the Blue (North–South) line is the metro station for Eden Gardens — the Railways ran special late-night Blue Line services from Esplanade, toward Dakshineshwar and Kavi Subhash, after the 2023 World Cup match at the ground. (Ministry of Railways (PIB release))
