Thrifting tips for Vancouver
Thrifting in Vancouver goes better with a little prep:
- Test every button and dial at RAPS Animal Hospital Thrift Store. Lamps, radios, kitchen gadgets — try them in the store if there's an outlet handy. As-is means as-is.
- Bring a tape measure at Value Village. The perfect sideboard is useless if it won't fit through your door. Tape measure in the bag, every trip.
- Inspect electronics in the store. Plug it in before you pay. Most thrift shops sell electronics as-is, and a cheap record player can be an expensive paperweight.
- Learn the colour-tag system. Many charity shops tag items with coloured stickers and discount one colour each week. Ask at the till; it's rarely advertised.
