Gallery tips for Bergamo

A few things worth knowing before you work through Bergamo's art galleries:

• Ask about the artists at Continer Art. Local, emerging, mid-career — the gallerist can tell you who's who and why this show matters.
• Buy local art if you can at Galleria d'arte Thomas Brambilla. An original from a local artist costs less than you think and means more than any print. Start with works on paper.
• Note the curator's name. Good curators have taste you can follow. If you loved the show, look up what else they've put together.
• Ask about the price list. It's normal to ask, even if you're not buying. It tells you how the market values the work.

Good to know

We searched about 40 km around Bergamo — that covers the town itself plus the surrounding communities you'd reasonably drive to. Listings come from OpenStreetMap, mapped by local volunteers, so a brand-new art gallery in Bergamo can take a while to appear. Spotted a closure among the 10, or a art gallery we missed entirely? The map is the source of truth here — one OpenStreetMap edit corrects it for everyone.

We don't review exhibitions — shows change too fast. What we list is the where: real galleries, verified by real mappers.

If you run one of the 10 listed here and something's wrong — a closure, a move, new hours — the fix is the same: update the shop on OpenStreetMap and the correction flows through to this page on the next daily refresh.
