Gallery tips for Chongqing

Gallery-going in Chongqing? A few habits help:

• Take the long way through at 龙美术馆重庆分馆. Galleries reward slow looking. One extra lap always reveals something the first pass missed.
• Ask the gallerist at 吾善艺术. They know the work, the artists, and what's coming next. Most are delighted when someone asks a real question.
• Check for artist talks. Talks, walkthroughs and panel discussions are often free and turn a good show into a great evening.
• The bookshop corner is curated. Gallery bookshops stock the art books the big stores don't. Worth ten minutes on the way out.

Good to know

We searched about 25 km around Chongqing — that covers the town itself plus the surrounding communities you'd reasonably drive to. Listings come from OpenStreetMap, mapped by local volunteers, so a brand-new art gallery in Chongqing can take a while to appear. Spotted a closure among the 5, or a art gallery we missed entirely? The map is the source of truth here — one OpenStreetMap edit corrects it for everyone.

We don't review exhibitions — shows change too fast. What we list is the where: real galleries, verified by real mappers.

If you run one of the 5 listed here and something's wrong — a closure, a move, new hours — the fix is the same: update the shop on OpenStreetMap and the correction flows through to this page on the next daily refresh.
