Madison Square Garden, celebrity row, and the most intense crowd in the NBA. How to plan a Knicks weekend in New York.
Madison Square Garden calls itself the World's Most Famous Arena, and for once the marketing is accurate. The Knicks' home crowd is the most knowledgeable and most emotional in basketball: when the team is good, the Garden is the loudest building in the league, and the celebrity sightings are constant.
The Garden sits on top of Penn Station in the middle of Manhattan, which makes this the easiest sports trip in America logistically. Here's the playbook.
Knicks tickets are among the NBA's most expensive, and the Garden sells out most nights. Weeknight games against non-marquee teams are the value play; the 200-level corners have good sightlines for the price. Avoid the resale markups on rivalry games unless you love pain.

Check the Knicks' Dayfari page for the schedule and ticket links when planning. If the dates work, look for a homestand; the Garden also hosts the Rangers (NHL), so a basketball-hockey doubleheader weekend is very doable.
The location is unbeatable: Penn Station, every subway line, the middle of Manhattan. Arrive early enough to walk the concourse; the Garden's history (the photos, the retired numbers, the championship banners from '70 and '73) is the pre-game show.

The crowd is the thing. Knicks fans are famously intense and famously funny; the chants, the celebrity row reactions, the sheer noise when the team goes on a run. Even the upper deck feels close; the Garden's steep seating puts you on top of the court.
