Board game cafés in Basel

Zero mapped board game cafés in Basel, Basel-Stadt — for now. We checked OpenStreetMap within about 25 km of Basel for board game cafés. No hits yet, which most often means the places are there but unmapped, not absent. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

What Basel's game page will look like

We can't describe venues that aren't mapped yet, but we can say what the listing will contain: the venue's name, its street address where the sources have one, and any hours, phone or website recorded. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — if it's mapped, it's on the page.

Basel sits about 48° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak game-night season: dark early evenings, the perfect excuse to gather a group around a table for three hours.

Until then, Basel remains a blank worth filling. Game nights thrive wherever people gather — the venues just need someone local to put them on the map.

Game night smarts for Basel

No mapped game spots yet, but the game-night skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Ask about the shop section. Many cafés sell the games too, often with a try-first discount. Ask what's in stock.
• Check age policies for evenings. Some venues go 19+ at night. Check before bringing younger players to an evening session.
• Learn the rules from the teacher, not the book. Rulebooks are reference; humans are teachers. Let the staff run the first round.
• Respect the components. Sleeved cards, no drinks on the table edge, pieces back in the box. Treat the library like it's yours.

The kind of venue that belongs here

Somewhere the games library is the point: a board game café, a game bar, a shop with play space. Not a pub with a chess set — the real thing.

When a qualifying board game café gets mapped in Basel, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying board game café appears in Basel's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.

Put Basel on the map

Know a board game café here that isn't listed? The fastest route onto this page runs through OpenStreetMap: add it as shop=games (name-matched) with its name and address, and it'll appear here after our next daily refresh. Local knowledge beats every dataset. The most useful details are the board game café's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
