Board game cafés in Groningen

We haven't mapped any board game cafés in Groningen, Groningen yet. We searched about 40 km around town in OpenStreetMap's community data — board game cafés — and came up empty. That usually means the places exist but nobody's mapped them, not that there's nothing to find. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

Café, bar, shop: the three flavours

Game cafés lead with the library and the kitchen — that's the classic night out. Game bars add drinks and skew adult in the evenings. Game shops with play space are retail-first but run the community nights. All three count here.

Groningen sits about 53° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak game-night season: dark early evenings, the perfect excuse to gather a group around a table for three hours.

When Groningen's spots do get mapped, the listing will say which source each came from — community map or Foursquare — so you know what you're looking at.

Game night smarts for Groningen

No mapped game spots yet, but the game-night skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Check the party packages. Birthdays and team events at game cafés are excellent. Book ahead — weekends sell out.
• Learn one game well. Regulars have their game. Pick one from the library, learn it properly, and become the table's teacher.
• Check age policies for evenings. Some venues go 19+ at night. Check before bringing younger players to an evening session.
• Bring cash for the cover. Some smaller venues are cash-only at the door. A few bills avoid awkwardness.
