What Wanaka's game page will look like

We can't describe venues that aren't mapped yet, but we can say what the listing will contain: the venue's name, its street address where the sources have one, and any hours, phone or website recorded. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — if it's mapped, it's on the page.

Wanaka sits about 45° south of the equator, so the seasons run flipped. Winter here runs June to August, and it's peak game-night season — long evenings made for settling in with a big box.

Until then, Wanaka remains a blank worth filling. Game nights thrive wherever people gather — the venues just need someone local to put them on the map.

Game night smarts for Wanaka

No mapped game spots yet, but the game-night skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Order food and drink. That's the business model. The cover charge is often waived with a minimum spend, and the kitchen needs you.
• Keep phones away. Nothing kills game night like half the table scrolling. The game deserves your attention.
• Start with a gateway game. If your group is new, start simple. The staff know the perfect first game for any group — trust them.
• Check the party packages. Birthdays and team events at game cafés are excellent. Book ahead — weekends sell out.
