The map for Whitehaven, Cumbria, England's board game cafés is still blank. Our search covered roughly 40 km around Whitehaven, looking through OpenStreetMap for board game cafés, and turned up nothing mapped so far. What Whitehaven's game page will look like

We can't describe venues that aren't mapped yet, but we can say what the listing will contain: the venue's name, its street address where the sources have one, and any hours, phone or website recorded. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — if it's mapped, it's on the page.

Whitehaven sits about 55° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak game-night season: dark early evenings, the perfect excuse to gather a group around a table for three hours.

Until then, Whitehaven remains a blank worth filling. Game nights thrive wherever people gather — the venues just need someone local to put them on the map.

Game night smarts for Whitehaven

No mapped game spots yet, but the game-night skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Mind the table time. On busy nights tables turn over. Finish your game, free the table, order another round at the bar.
• Learn the rules from the teacher, not the book. Rulebooks are reference; humans are teachers. Let the staff run the first round.
• Don't bring your own games (usually). The library is the point. Some venues welcome outside games; ask first rather than assuming.
• Keep the noise reasonable. Excitement is fine; shouting across the room isn't. Other tables are concentrating.

A real play venue: cafés with games libraries, board game bars, game shops with play space. Somewhere you can sit down and play, not just buy.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying board game café appears in Whitehaven's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.
