What counts as a comic shop in Dumfries

A shop built around comics: new issues, back issues, trades, usually with the games and collectibles alongside. What doesn't count: the graphic-novel shelf at the bookstore, and online-only sellers. The bar is a real shop where Wednesday means new comics.

Dumfries sits about 55° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak comics season: dark evenings, the big event storylines running, and the Wednesday ritual at its cosiest.

When comic shops in Dumfries get mapped, they appear here with addresses and hours where recorded. Mapped means listed — no paid placement, no favourites.

Comic smarts for Dumfries

No mapped comic shops yet, but the comics habits work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Don't be embarrassed to start. Everyone starts somewhere. 'I've never read comics, where do I begin?' is a question staff hear happily every week.
• Check the trade paperbacks. Collected editions are the economical way to read full runs. The trades wall is the best value in the shop.
• Check the kids' section. All-ages comics are genuinely great now, not watered down. The kids' shelf is a joy even for adults.
• Pre-order the big events. Major storylines sell out. Pre-ordering through your shop guarantees your copy and helps them order right.

Our bar is a walk-in shop built around comics. New issues, back issues, trades — if comics are the business, it qualifies.

When a qualifying comic shop gets mapped in Dumfries, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying comic shop appears in Dumfries's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.

How Dumfries gets on the comic shops map

Every listing on Dayfari starts as an OpenStreetMap edit by a local volunteer. If you know a comic shop in Dumfries, adding it to the map (tagged shop=comics) is the fastest way to get it listed here — our next refresh picks it up automatically. The most useful details are the comic shop's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
