Comic book shops in Jackson

The map for Jackson, Mississippi's comic shops is still blank. Our search covered roughly 25 km around Jackson, looking through OpenStreetMap for comic shops, and turned up nothing mapped so far. Blank maps are usually a mapping gap rather than a real gap. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

Getting your comics fix around Jackson

No mapped comic shops doesn't mean no comics. The usual stand-ins: the library's graphic novel section (free, and better stocked than you'd think), bookstore manga and trades shelves, and the nearest city's comic shops — worth a monthly trip with a pull list in mind.

Jackson sits about 32° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak comics season: dark evenings, the big event storylines running, and the Wednesday ritual at its cosiest.

And mark the first Saturday in May: Free Comic Book Day is the best excuse to visit a new shop, wherever it is.

Comic smarts for Jackson

No mapped comic shops yet, but the comics habits work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Learn what a key issue is. First appearances and landmark issues — the keys — hold value. The staff can point out which back issues matter.
• Learn the publishers. Beyond the big two there's a whole ecosystem. A quick education in publishers opens up the whole shop.
• Ask about subscriber discounts. Many shops discount pull-list customers. Ten percent off adds up fast when you buy weekly.
• Learn the grading basics. Mint, near mint, fine — condition drives price. Check for spine ticks, colour breaks, and sharp corners before you pay.
