What Mackinaw City's comic page will look like

We can't describe shops that aren't mapped yet, but we can say what the listing will contain: the shop's name, its street address where the map has one, and any hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

Mackinaw City sits about 46° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak comics season: dark evenings, the big event storylines running, and the Wednesday ritual at its cosiest.

Until then, Mackinaw City remains a blank worth filling. Comic shops thrive wherever readers gather — they just need someone local to put them on the map.

Comic smarts for Mackinaw City

No mapped comic shops yet, but the comics habits work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Pre-order the big events. Major storylines sell out. Pre-ordering through your shop guarantees your copy and helps them order right.
• Check the events board. Signings, launches, creator visits — the board by the counter is the shop's social calendar.
• Wednesday is new-comic day. New issues land Wednesdays. Regulars show up Wednesday; the good variants sell out by the weekend.
• Visit on Free Comic Book Day. First Saturday in May. Free comics, creators, costumes — the best day to discover a new shop.
