Comic book shops in Strathmore

The new reader's playbook

Until Strathmore has mapped comic shops, here's how to start anywhere. Walk in on a Wednesday and say you've never read comics — staff hear it happily every week. Start a pull list so you never miss an issue. Try the indie shelf alongside the big titles. And bag and board anything you want to keep; it costs pennies.

Strathmore sits about 51° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak comics season: dark evenings, the big event storylines running, and the Wednesday ritual at its cosiest.

The back-issue long boxes are the real treasure: full runs of older series at a fraction of collected-edition prices.

Comic smarts for Strathmore

No mapped comic shops yet, but the comics habits work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Visit on Free Comic Book Day. First Saturday in May. Free comics, creators, costumes — the best day to discover a new shop.
• Check the kids' section. All-ages comics are genuinely great now, not watered down. The kids' shelf is a joy even for adults.
• Respect the reading copies. The shop's reading copies are for browsing, not bending. Treat them like library books.
• Check the sale bins. The discount long boxes turn over constantly. A dollar a comic for reading copies is unbeatable.

The kind of shop that belongs here

Somewhere you can pull a weekly list and dig long boxes: a proper comic shop. Not a bookstore shelf — the real thing.

When a qualifying comic shop gets mapped in Strathmore, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying comic shop appears in Strathmore's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.

How Strathmore gets on the comic shops map

Every listing on Dayfari starts as an OpenStreetMap edit by a local volunteer. If you know a comic shop in Strathmore, adding it to the map (tagged shop=comics) is the fastest way to get it listed here — our next refresh picks it up automatically. The most useful details are the comic shop's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
