Day trips from Raikot
Raikot sits in the middle of Punjab's Malwa belt with good roads in every direction - Ludhiana is 40 minutes away, Patiala under three hours, Chandigarh and Amritsar both doable in a day. Ludhiana
The closest city and the easiest trip: Lodhi Fort (500 years old), the Rural Museum, Nehru Rose Garden, the Tiger Safari zoo, the Maharana Ranjit Singh War Museum and Hardy's World amusement park. Gurudwara Alamgir Sahib is 11 km out. Go for shopping too - fabrics, woollens and hosiery at some of the cheapest rates in India.
Getting there: drive via NH 754AD (~40 min); train via Ahmadgarh/Chauki Man + taxi ~1 hr (Rs 468-1,334).
Patiala

The royal city: Qila Mubarak, Sheesh Mahal (the palace of mirrors), Baradari Gardens and Moti Bagh Palace. Patiala is the Malwa region's cultural capital - come for the architecture, stay for the food.
Fares: sedan ~Rs 1,045, SUV ~Rs 1,425, Innova ~Rs 2,425 (CabBazar, October 2026).
Chandigarh

Le Corbusier's planned city: the Rock Garden (Nek Chand's sculpture garden from urban waste), Sukhna Lake at sunset, and the Capitol Complex. The full-day option - leave early.
Also see: the Rock Garden statues. Cheapest: bus + taxi Rs 600-1,900 (~4h12m). No direct train - via Mullanpur ~3h3m.
Amritsar

The big pilgrimage day: the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) - the holiest gurdwara in Sikhism - Jallianwala Bagh, and the Wagah Border ceremony if you time it for the evening. Long day, worth it.
Bus + taxi Rs 950-1,600 (~3h20m). Start before dawn for the Golden Temple at opening.
Anandpur Sahib
Birthplace of the Khalsa (1699) and home of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib. The Virasat-e-Khalsa museum (Moshe Safdie, 2011) is Punjab's largest museum. Time it for Hola Mohalla (24-26 March 2027): three days of Nihang gatka, tent-pegging and processions.
Barnala
The nearest small-city hop: Gurudwara Nanaksar Sahib draws devotees from across the belt. Easy half-day from Raikot.

Getting around
By car/taxi: the fares above are CabBazar one-way estimates (sedan unless noted); 10-20% advance is the usual booking term. By bus: Raikot is on the Ludhiana-Barnala corridor with frequent buses; for Chandigarh and Amritsar expect a change. By train: no direct trains from Raikot to these cities in the planners - routes go via Ahmadgarh, Chauki Man, Mullanpur or Barnala.
Staying over: Ludhiana and Patiala work as day trips; Chandigarh and Amritsar are long days - if you stay, both cities have the full hotel range.

What's the best day trip from Raikot?
Ludhiana is the easy one (43 km, 40 minutes). For a full day, Patiala's palaces (~95 km) beat everything else on history per kilometre.
Can I do Amritsar in a day from Raikot?
Yes, but start early - it's 146-161 km, about 2.5-3.5 hours each way. The Golden Temple at dawn is the payoff.
