Record stores in Alma

The map for Alma, Quebec's record stores is still blank. Our search covered roughly 12 km around Alma, looking through OpenStreetMap for record stores, and turned up nothing mapped so far. Blank maps are usually a mapping gap rather than a real gap. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

What Alma's record page will look like

We can't describe shops that aren't mapped yet, but we can say what the listing will contain: the shop's name, whether it's new, used, or both, its street address where the map has one, and any hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

Alma sits about 49° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak digging season: dark evenings, the new-arrivals bin fresh from the autumn collection sell-offs, and nowhere better to spend a Saturday.

Until then, Alma remains a blank worth filling. Record shops thrive wherever music lovers live — they just need someone local to put them on the map.

Digging smarts for Alma

No mapped record shops yet, but the digging skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Visit on restock days. Shops process collections on rhythms. Ask when new used stock hits the floor and time your visits.
• Bring cash for the small shops. Some independents prefer it, and a cash offer on a stack can occasionally move the price.
• Buy the weird stuff. Private pressings, local bands, oddball compilations — the strange records are the ones that appreciate.
• Check Discogs before big purchases. A quick price check on your phone keeps everyone honest — you and the shop.

The kind of shop that belongs here

Somewhere you can flip through crates: an independent record shop, a used vinyl specialist. Not a department store aisle — a real dig.

When a qualifying record store gets mapped in Alma, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying record store appears in Alma's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.

One edit is all it takes

Dayfari's record stores listings are read straight from OpenStreetMap, which means anyone can fix them. A record store in Alma needs exactly one volunteer to add it — tagged shop=music — and the next refresh pulls it onto this page automatically. The most useful details are the record store's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
