Record stores in Filey

We haven't mapped any record stores in Filey, North Yorkshire yet. We searched about 12 km around town in OpenStreetMap's community data — record stores — and came up empty. That usually means the places exist but nobody's mapped them, not that there's nothing to find. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

What counts as a record store in Filey

A shop whose main business is selling recorded music on physical formats: new vinyl, used vinyl, or both. That covers independents and the specialists. What doesn't count: the vinyl wall at the lifestyle chain, and online-only sellers. The bar is a real shop with real bins to dig.

Filey sits about 54° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak digging season: dark evenings, the new-arrivals bin fresh from the autumn collection sell-offs, and nowhere better to spend a Saturday.

When record shops in Filey get mapped, they appear here with addresses and hours where recorded. Mapped means listed — no paid placement, no favourites.

Digging smarts for Filey

No mapped record shops yet, but the digging skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Handle records properly in the shop. By the edges, never the grooves. Shops notice, and so do the records.
• Ask about want-list services. Good shops will keep an eye out for your grails. It takes patience, but the call when it lands is worth it.
• Check the vinyl, not just the sleeve. Slide it out (carefully, by the edges) and look at it in good light. Sleeves lie; vinyl doesn't.
• Check the dead wax. The runout groove holds matrix numbers that identify pressings. Collectors live by these; a quick phone search settles it.

What we're watching for in Filey

A real record shop: new vinyl, used vinyl, or both, with bins to dig. Independents and specialists all count. The vinyl wall at the lifestyle chain doesn't.

When a qualifying record store gets mapped in Filey, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying record store appears in Filey's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.

One edit is all it takes

Dayfari's record stores listings are read straight from OpenStreetMap, which means anyone can fix them. A record store in Filey needs exactly one volunteer to add it — tagged shop=music — and the next refresh pulls it onto this page automatically. The most useful details are the record store's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
