Record stores in Homyel'

The map for Homyel', Homyel' Voblasc''s record stores is still blank. Our search covered roughly 40 km around Homyel', looking through OpenStreetMap for record stores, and turned up nothing mapped so far. Blank maps are usually a mapping gap rather than a real gap. This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so a blank today can be a full guide tomorrow.

New, used, and the difference

New vinyl is the reissues and current pressings — reliable, returnable, full price. Used is the adventure: originals, oddities, and prices set by knowledge and whim. The best shops do both, and the best diggers learn both games. Check a phone price guide before big purchases; it keeps everyone honest.

Homyel' sits about 52° north of the equator, so it gets proper seasons. Winter is peak digging season: dark evenings, the new-arrivals bin fresh from the autumn collection sell-offs, and nowhere better to spend a Saturday.

When Homyel''s shops do get mapped, the used-tagged ones are where the deep digging happens.

Digging smarts for Homyel'

No mapped record shops yet, but the digging skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Don't skip the 45s. The singles boxes get less traffic and hide great finds. B-sides are the deep cuts of record shopping.
• Go often, dig briefly. Short frequent visits beat rare expeditions. Fifteen minutes twice a week outperforms a monthly dig.
• Learn the grading. Mint, near mint, very good — and check whether the grade is visual or play-graded. A visual VG+ can play like an EX.
• Don't clean records with your shirt. A proper brush costs little and saves grooves. Shirt fibres and spit are how records get ruined.

A real record shop: new vinyl, used vinyl, or both, with bins to dig. Independents and specialists all count. The vinyl wall at the lifestyle chain doesn't.

One edit is all it takes

Dayfari's record stores listings are read straight from OpenStreetMap, which means anyone can fix them. A record store in Homyel' needs exactly one volunteer to add it — tagged shop=music — and the next refresh pulls it onto this page automatically. The most useful details are the record store's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
