What counts as a record store in Montego Bay

A shop whose main business is selling recorded music on physical formats: new vinyl, used vinyl, or both. That covers independents and the specialists. What doesn't count: the vinyl wall at the lifestyle chain, and online-only sellers. The bar is a real shop with real bins to dig.

Montego Bay sits near the equator. There's no real off-season for digging here, so shops restock on their own rhythms — ask when new used stock hits the floor.

When record shops in Montego Bay get mapped, they appear here with addresses and hours where recorded. Mapped means listed — no paid placement, no favourites.

Digging smarts for Montego Bay

No mapped record shops yet, but the digging skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Bring a want-list. Write down what you're hunting. Digging is fun, but a list turns luck into strategy.
• Visit on restock days. Shops process collections on rhythms. Ask when new used stock hits the floor and time your visits.
• Go often, dig briefly. Short frequent visits beat rare expeditions. Fifteen minutes twice a week outperforms a monthly dig.
• Buy the weird stuff. Private pressings, local bands, oddball compilations — the strange records are the ones that appreciate.

Put Montego Bay on the map

Know a record store here that isn't listed? The fastest route onto this page runs through OpenStreetMap: add it as shop=music with its name and address, and it'll appear here after our next daily refresh. Local knowledge beats every dataset. The most useful details are the record store's name, its street address, and its opening hours — even a name and a pin on the map is enough to get started.
