Record digging tips for Rotherham

A few things worth knowing before you work through Rotherham's record stores:

• Check the bargain wall rhythm at Riverside Records. Shops restock the cheap sections on cycles. Ask when — that's when the fresh bargains land.
• Don't skip the 45s at Piano Drum and Guitar Centre. The singles boxes get less traffic and hide great finds. B-sides are the deep cuts of record shopping.
• Note the shop's specialties. Every shop leans somewhere — soul, punk, jazz, classical. Find the lean that matches yours, then dig the others anyway.
• Check the turntable section. Many record shops sell used decks and cartridges. A serviced vintage turntable beats a cheap new one.

Good to know

We searched about 25 km around Rotherham — that covers the town itself plus the surrounding communities you'd reasonably drive to. Listings come from OpenStreetMap, mapped by local volunteers, so a brand-new record store in Rotherham can take a while to appear. Spotted a closure among the 8, or a record store we missed entirely? The map is the source of truth here — one OpenStreetMap edit corrects it for everyone.

We don't list prices or stock — both change by the day. What we list is the where: real shops, verified by real mappers.

If you run one of the 8 listed here and something's wrong — a closure, a move, new hours — the fix is the same: update the shop on OpenStreetMap and the correction flows through to this page on the next daily refresh.
