What counts as a tattoo shop in Batemans Bay

A proper studio: a fixed address, licensed artists working legally, portfolios you can browse before you commit, and sterilisation you can see. Some also do piercings. What doesn't count: home scratchers, kitchen-table setups, and anyone offering to tattoo you somewhere improvised. The bar is deliberately high — this is your skin.

Batemans Bay sits about 36° south of the equator, so the seasons run flipped. Winter here (June to August) is the classic tattoo season: fresh ink stays covered and out of the sun while it heals.

When studios in Batemans Bay get mapped, you'll see them here with addresses, hours and contact details where the mappers recorded them. No paid placement, no sponsored slots — mapped means listed.

Tattoo smarts for Batemans Bay

No mapped studios yet, but the vetting skills work anywhere. Four worth knowing:

• Small first tattoos are smart. Your first session teaches you how your skin takes ink and how you handle the pain. Start modest.
• No swimming while it heals. Pools, lakes, hot tubs — all off limits for two to three weeks. Fresh tattoos and bacteria don't mix.
• A second opinion is fine. Consult two studios if you're unsure. Good artists respect it; only the insecure ones mind.
• Bring sugar and water. Sessions run long and blood sugar drops. Candy and a water bottle are standard kit for regulars.

What earns a listing in Batemans Bay

Our bar is a proper studio — a real address, artists working legally, and a portfolio on display. Home scratchers, kitchen-table setups and anyone offering to tattoo you somewhere improvised don't qualify, no matter how cheap.

When a qualifying tattoo shop gets mapped in Batemans Bay, this page updates on the next refresh with its name, address where available, and whatever hours, phone or website the mappers recorded. Nothing here is paid placement and nothing is sponsored — if it's on the map, it's on the page.

This page refreshes daily from the latest map data, so the moment a qualifying tattoo shop appears in Batemans Bay's OpenStreetMap data, it shows up here — usually within a day of being mapped.
