Thrift stores in Lafayette

If you like the hunt, Lafayette, Louisiana is worth a wander: 3 second-hand and charity shops are mapped here. 1 of them are charity shops and 2 are independent second-hand stores, so Lafayette gives you both flavours of thrifting in one trip.

This guide covers every thrift store we could verify in and around Lafayette (within about 40 km), built from OpenStreetMap's community-maintained data. Names you'll run into include The Salvation Army and Today's Big Deals, plus Goodwill — each with its own personality, which is half the fun. If a shop's missing from Lafayette's list, it probably just hasn't been mapped yet — the scene is bigger than any single dataset.

Thrifting tips for Lafayette

Thrifting in Lafayette goes better with a little prep:

• Ask about hold policies at The Salvation Army. Eyeing furniture you can't take today? Many shops will hold an item for 24 hours. Ask before someone else buys it.
• Measure the car, not just the room at Today's Big Deals. That bookshelf fits the wall but not the hatchback. Know your cargo space before you fall in love.
• Check zippers, buttons and seams. Thirty seconds of inspection at the rack beats discovering the broken zipper at home. Thrift stores don't do returns.
• The housewares aisle rewards patience. Cast iron, Pyrex, good knives — they all surface eventually. Check the bottom shelves; heavy things live low.

Prices at Lafayette's thrift stores are set by each shop and change constantly, so we don't list them. As a rough rule, charity shops are the cheapest, independents sit in the middle, and anything labelled vintage costs more everywhere — Lafayette included.
