Where to eat

Where to eat in King Township

A farm township that eats in three villages — an 1851 inn and a scratch-kitchen Italian in King City, a French-Portuguese dining room and a tapas cantina in the old feed mill on Schomberg's Main Street, a family cantina and a decades-old Italian bakery in Nobleton: twenty-three verified listings, all seated in King, and an honest note on its markets.

Photos for King Township are still on their way. Every listing below is real.

A farm township that eats in three villages

King Township is not one town with one main street. It is a big rural township on the Oak Ridges Moraine, running down to the Holland Marsh, and its people live — and eat — in three villages, each with its own small food street. King City eats along Keele Street and King Road: a mid-1800s inn, two Italian kitchens, a sushi counter and a café in a century home, all within a few doors of each other. Schomberg eats along a short, handsome Main Street: a French-Portuguese dining room, a gastropub, a tapas cantina in the old feed mill and the coffee shop the cyclists aim for. Nobleton eats along Highway 27 and King Road: a family Italian cantina, an Italian bakery that has fed the village for decades, Chinese and Japanese kitchens and a burger counter. Twenty-three venue cards follow, every one seated inside King Township itself.

That seat check matters more here than in most townships, because King is ringed by places with bigger food scenes — Kleinburg and Maple in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket and Bolton in Caledon. All of them eat well, and none of it is borrowed here, however the directories file it: a Kleinburg dining room that shows up in Nobleton searches is Vaughan's, and it is refused by name below. Where two sources disagreed on a house's hours, phone or name, the disagreement is printed on the card rather than smoothed away. No menu price appears anywhere on this page, only a band: menus move, and a stale figure helps nobody. The Township's own dining directory is a good cross-check before a trip: the Township of King's dining pages.

The food anchors: two real markets whose current season this page will not invent

Start with the honest negative, because it shapes the page. King has two real farmers' markets in its record — and neither carries a verified current season. The Schomberg Farmers' Market, run under the Schomberg Agricultural Society, is documented by Township community calendars across the late 2010s as an alternate-Saturday market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June to mid-October, at the Schomberg agricultural grounds; its seat prints four ways across the years (the Agricultural Arena at 251 Western Ave, the old arena parking lot, the fairgrounds, and in one plan the Trisan Centre), and those forms are carried here unmerged. Its operator's own site still lists its vendors — local baking, organically grown beef, artisanal grains and flours, preserves and produce — but its season notice is stale, and no 2026 cadence could be verified on it: the Schomberg Farmers Market's vendor page. The King City Farmers Market is documented the same way, as an alternate-Sunday market, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., late June to mid-October, hosted at All Saints Anglican Church (12935 Keele St) — the two markets were designed to alternate weekends — but no operator surface for it could be reached at all. So no market card below claims a 2026 season, and no dates have been derived from the old pattern: a dozen invented Saturdays would be worse than this paragraph. Check the operator or the Township's current community calendar before a market trip.

Two things that are not markets, named so nobody mistakes them. Highway 9 Farmers Market (3890 Hwy 9, in the hamlet of Kettleby) is standing farm retail with daily hours on the township's record, not a periodic market — a farm shop, and a useful one, but a different thing. And the township's food scene does have a dated showcase: the Township's Taste of King prix-fixe celebration ran its 2026 edition from February 28 to March 14 across the three villages, on the Township's own publication — concluded by the time of this page, and the best single proof of which kitchens the township itself puts forward: several of the rooms carded below (Historia Cantina, Craft Kitchen, Port Soiree, Raffaele's Cantina, the Schomberg Pub, Leonardo's, Locale) appear in its Taste of King and Taste of Main line-ups.

King City: the Keele Street core

Hogan's Restaurant — the 1851 inn at Keele and King Road

12998 Keele St, King City · +1 905-833-5311 · Daily 11:00 a.m.-midnight, Fri-Sat to 2:00 a.m. per its place record · Expensive

The township's fine-dining landmark, on the house's own account a King City institution since 1851, with many of the inn's original features still in the room. The kitchen runs modern European and Canadian: beef bourguignon, Chilean sea bass, duck confit, a mushroom risotto, a long wine list, garden patios in season and fireside tables in winter. This is the celebration card of the King City set — business dinners and anniversaries land here first. Its pub sibling is carded separately, directly below. Hogan's Restaurant's site.

The Hunt Pub — Hogan's English gastropub, same inn, its own door

12998 Keele St, King City · +1 905-833-5312 · Fri-Sat 5:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. per its place record · Moderate

The inn's second room, carried on Hogan's own site as King City's premier bar: an English gastropub menu — braised short rib poutine, roasted beet carpaccio, bruschetta, nachos — beer and wine, live-music energy and a weekend-only week on its record. The shared address is printed deliberately, not merged: the pub and the dining room are two venues in one historic building, with different phones, different hours and different tempers. The Hunt Pub's page.

Locale King City — the scratch-kitchen Italian on Keele

12981 Keele St, King City · +1 905-833-2500 · Sun 4:30-9:00 p.m.; Tue-Wed 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. + 5:00-9:00 p.m.; Thu to 10:00 p.m.; Fri to 11:00 p.m.; Sat 5:00-11:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

An energetic neighbourhood eatery, on its own account, with a scratch kitchen and an Italian-focused, farm-to-table menu: wood-fired pizzas including a zucchinella, a seasonal agnolotti di zucca, warm olives and nodini to start, and a bar that takes cocktails seriously. One flag, in the open: its record publishes no Monday hours at all, so Monday is a phone question, not a promise. Locale's site.

Vivo Avanti — hand-crafted pasta on King Road

2124 King Rd, King City · +1 905-833-3094 · Sun + Tue-Thu 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Fri-Sat to 11:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

The King Road Italian room, selling itself — in paraphrase — as elevated dining at casual prices: hand-crafted pastas, a rotating cocktail menu, spaced tables that give a group its own corner, and a room diners describe as lively rather than hushed. As with its Keele Street neighbours, its record publishes no Monday hours; the week above is the record's, printed as such. Vivo Avanti's site.

Motorino — wood-fired Naples pizza at the King Road plaza

1700 King Rd, King City · +1 905-833-6686 · Daily 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Fri-Sat to 11:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A wood-fire pizza house with Naples in every bite, on its own account: margherita and an 'nduja pizza on bamboo dough, a cannelloni of the day, burrata, spaghetti carbonara, and a heated, glass-covered patio that stretches the season. It shares the 1700 King Road plaza address with the breakfast chain carded below — same plaza, different doors, neither record merged into the other. Motorino's site.

Paper Crane — the Keele Street sushi counter

12975 Keele St, King City · +1 647-693-5831 · Sun 3:00-9:00 p.m.; Tue-Fri 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Sat 12:00-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

King City's sushi address, a few doors from Locale: salmon sashimi its reviewers call thick-cut and fresh, maki including a house dragon roll and a Paper Crane roll, and a Queen bento box for the undecided. Its record publishes no Monday hours — flagged here rather than filled in. Paper Crane's site.

The Roost Cafe — coffee and brunch in the century home

12974 Keele St, King City · +1 905-833-3210 · Tue-Sun 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., closed Mondays, per the house's own contact page · Moderate

A neighbourhood café in a beautiful century home in the heart of King City, on the house's own account, across from All Saints: a lavender latte, a quinoa power bowl, carrot cake, plenty of gluten-free and vegan baking, and a backyard view made for slow mornings. Its own contact page governs the hours above; older directory weeks that run it seven days are superseded traces, not a second schedule. The Roost Cafe's site.

Sunset Grill, King City — the all-day breakfast chain, disclosed

1700 King Rd, King City · +1 905-833-2222 · Daily 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. per its chain location page · Inexpensive

The chain status is stated on the card, as everywhere in this series: this is the King City location of the Ontario all-day breakfast chain, in the 1700 King Road plaza — bacon and eggs, a California benedict, strawberry cheesecake French toast, burgers at lunch, every day until three. Carded because a seven-to-three breakfast room is a real piece of the village's food life, format and all. Sunset Grill's King City page.

Schomberg: Main Street, door to door

Port Soiree — French-Portuguese fine dining at the west end of Main

174 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-939-7678 · Tue-Sat 12:00-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Expensive

Fine dining in a casual, relaxed setting, nestled in the village of Schomberg, on the house's own account — and the village's special-occasion table. The menu leans French, Portuguese and Mediterranean at once: grilled calamari, raw oysters, mussels, a Portuguese seafood mix, and a wine list with real Portuguese depth. Reservations are the house's implied advice; its garden grows beside the room. Port Soiree's site.

The Schomberg Pub & Patio — the Main Street gastropub

226 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-939-7151 · Sun-Tue 12:00-11:00 p.m., Wed-Thu to 1:00 a.m., Fri-Sat to 2:00 a.m. per its place record · Moderate

The village pub, open daily for lunch and dinner on its own account, with live music every week by local musicians: a smash burger, fish tacos, a sesame noodle bowl, a cornbread skillet, and a big tree-shaded patio that is the point of the place in summer. Features run daily; the late weekend closes make it Schomberg's after-dinner card as well. The Schomberg Pub's site.

Craft Kitchen & Beer Bar — farm-to-table and a rotating tap list

214 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-939-2201 · Sun 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Wed-Sat 12:00-11:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

An intimate setting for an elevated dining experience, on the house's own account: a farm-to-table menu its chefs rebuild twice a year around local, fresh ingredients — market boards, garlic fries its regulars name, scallops, a miso-glazed cod in season — beside a rotating craft-beer selection. Its record publishes no Monday or Tuesday hours; flagged, not filled. One address note: a directory also seats a Lot 15 Wine Bar at 214 Main — named in the traces below, never merged with this card. Craft Kitchen's site.

Historia Cantina — tapas in the old Schomberg feed mill

357 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-939-8989 · Sun 12:00-9:00 p.m.; Tue 5:00-9:00 p.m.; Wed-Thu 12:00-9:00 p.m.; Fri-Sat to 10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A newly renovated restaurant in the historic Old Schomberg Feed Mill, on the house's own account: Spanish and Latin tapas built for sharing — braised beef birria tacos, handmade empanadas, fresh tuna tartare, pico de gallo and guacamole, Brussels sprouts and sweet corn — with a riverside patio and cocktails its reviewers single out. The address carries history: earlier rooms here traded as the Scruffy Duck and, in a directory trace, the Miller's Table; Historia is the current house on its own site and the Township's Taste of Main lists, and the predecessors are recorded as predecessors, not alternatives. Historia Cantina's site.

The Grackle Coffee Company — the cyclists' coffee stop on Main

208 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-590-0069 · Tue-Sat 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Sun 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

Schomberg's coffee room, pouring certified fair-trade organic coffee on its own account, with locally made goods, art and preserves on the shelves: butter tarts its regulars call unbeaten, a grilled cheese with a following, cheese croissants, vegan and gluten-free baking, and a patio the weekend cycling crowd treats as a finish line. Hours carry a flag: a directory week closes it at 3:30 where its place record runs to 4:30 — the record's week is printed above and the variant stands here, unmerged; a late-afternoon coffee wants a glance at the door. Its record publishes no Monday hours. The Grackle Coffee Company's site.

Leonardo's Pizzeria and Smokehouse — pizza and smoked meat on Main

289 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-939-6246 · Wed-Sun 12:00-9:00 p.m., Fri-Sat to 10:00 p.m. per its directory record · Inexpensive

The Main Street pizza room with a smokehouse attached: crispy pizzas, brisket and Montreal smoked meat its directory summaries keep naming, fresh salads and a patio the Township itself helped install under its patio programme. Carded at directory strength — no house site was verified in this pass — and its hours carry the usual Schomberg spread: older listings close Friday and Saturday at 9:30 where the current directory runs to 10; the directory's week is printed and the variant flagged, never merged.

In This Corner Bar & Grill — the Highway 27 breakfast-and-grill house

17250 Hwy 27, Unit 6, Schomberg · +1 905-939-1000 · Tue-Sat 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sun 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A family owned and operated restaurant in the Schomberg area, on the house's own account, opened in December 2013 and built on home cooking made from scratch: all-day breakfast, eggs benedict and peameal benedict, buttermilk pancakes, a Friday fish and chips, chicken souvlaki, and portions its reviewers warn you about. Its week is this page's most contested: one major directory starts Tuesday to Friday at 7 and runs Sunday to 8, where the place record and a second directory agree on the week printed above — printed as the record's, with the variants flagged here rather than merged. In This Corner's Facebook page.

Hollywood Pizza Schomberg — the Main Street pizza counter

185 Main St, Schomberg · +1 905-590-9555 · Daily 2:00-9:00 p.m., Fri-Sat to midnight per its place record · Inexpensive

The village's pizza-and-wings counter, a few doors from Port Soiree: pies, a Greek pizza, a cheeseburger pizza, wings by weight, and an afternoon-start week that makes it a dinner-and-later card, never a lunch one. It shares the plaza end of Main with the chains named below — carded because it is the local name on the street. Hollywood Pizza's site.

Nobleton: Highway 27 and King Road

Raffaele's Cantina — the family-run Italian, dinner only

5975 King Rd, Nobleton · +1 905-859-4429 · Tue-Sat 4:00-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A family-ran Italian restaurant just north of the city, on the house's own account — home-cooked food like nonna makes, at casual prices: house focaccia, a classic margherita, gnocchi in brown butter, a paccheri in spicy bomba sauce, pappardelle in a saffron rose sauce with shellfish. Dinner only, five nights — the Nobleton table you book, not the one you stumble into at noon. Raffaele's Cantina's site.

Cappuccino Bakery — the Italian bakery that has fed Nobleton for decades

5978 King Rd, Nobleton · +1 905-859-4414 · Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sat-Sun 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

Directly across King Road from Raffaele's, the village's Italian bakery and hot table: the Township's own directory credits it with serving Nobleton and the surrounding area for over thirty years, with fresh pastry and breads and home-cooked meals — a classic breakfast, deli sandwiches on fresh panini, chicken parmigiana, cannoli and custard zeppole. Its hours carry a variant, flagged not merged: a menu directory opens it at 5:30 and closes it at 9 where its place record prints the week above. Cappuccino Bakery's site.

Misoya Sushi — Nobleton's Japanese kitchen on King Road

5888 King Rd, Unit 1, Nobleton · +1 905-558-1833 · Tue-Sun 3:00-9:00 p.m., closed Mondays, per the house's own hours page · Moderate

The hours above are the house's own, from its own hours page — the strongest grade on this page — and they describe a dinner-only room: fresh sushi, maki and sashimi, teriyaki dinners and some Korean dishes beside them, gyoza and sweet chili chicken to start. Directory weeks that open it at lunch exist in the wild; the house's page governs, and the variants are recorded in this page's build notes, not merged into the week above. A Taste of King participant in the Township's line-ups. Misoya Sushi's site.

Noble Garden — the Chinese kitchen in the Highway 27 plaza

13305 Hwy 27, Unit 5, Nobleton · +1 905-859-9997 · Sun 3:00-9:00 p.m.; Tue-Fri 12:00-10:00 p.m.; Sat 3:00-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Inexpensive

Nobleton's Chinese table: lo mein and fried rice with beef, chicken or barbecue pork, consommé and mushroom egg-drop soups, almond rolls — a takeout-led room on a split week, with no Monday hours in its record, flagged rather than filled. One record note, printed because it changes what you trust: a second trace under the name Noble Wok, at a different Highway 27 address, carries this same phone — the two records may be a move, a rename or a conflation, and they are not merged here. Noble Garden's site.

Nobleton Burger — the King Road burger counter

5906 King Rd, Nobleton · Daily 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

The village's burger room, on one flat daily week: burgers, combos, sides and drinks, a short walk from Raffaele's and the bakery. One discipline rides with the card: its place record's phone number carries an area code that is not an Ontario one, so no phone is printed here pending a house-surface read — the address and week are the record's, and they are enough to find it. Nobleton Burger's site.

Taj Royal — Indian on Highway 27, carded at record strength

12984 Hwy 27, Nobleton · +1 647-451-0005 · Sun 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Mon 3:00-9:30 p.m.; Tue 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Wed-Fri 3:00-10:00 p.m.; Sat 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

Nobleton's Indian kitchen, carded at place-record strength: no house site was verified in this pass, so the irregular week above — full days and dinner-only days alternating — is the record's, printed exactly as published rather than tidied into a pattern it does not claim. The address carries a second trace (a pizza name publishes at 12984 Highway 27 in a directory) — flagged in the traces below, and no part of it is merged into this card.

Sunset Grill, Nobleton — the Highway 27 breakfast chain, disclosed

13255 Hwy 27, Nobleton · Daily 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Sat-Sun to 3:30 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

The chain status is stated on the card: the Nobleton location of the Ontario all-day breakfast chain, in the Highway 27 plaza — breakfast poutines, apple cinnabun pancakes, the Sunset Super, and lunch burgers until mid-afternoon. Its phone publishes in two forms — the record's 905-859-7380 against a directory's 905-558-7380 — so no phone is printed in the meta line above; both forms stand in this card, unmerged, and the chain's own location page is the tiebreaker before a call matters. Sunset Grill's Nobleton page.

Named, not carded — and what this page refuses

Named at directory or Township-list strength, held for a listing-grade pass: The Breakfast Club and Crossroads Fish & Chips (both at 6048 Hwy 9, Schomberg), KOHARU Japanese Restaurant (50 Dr Kay Dr, Unit 5, Schomberg), SI, LO SO. (pizza, pasta and panini on Dr Kay Dr, Schomberg), 307 on Main Café (307 Main St, Schomberg — the Township's own coffee-and-bakery directory carries it at this address and phone under this name; an older Sugar & Spice Bakeshop and Café trades at the same address and phone in the Township's earlier Taste of Main list — a renaming or a succession the records reached cannot settle, so neither form is carded on a merged record), The Scottish Nook (283 Main St, Schomberg), Lot 15 Wine Bar (214 Main St, Schomberg — the address Craft Kitchen also publishes; see its card), St Philips Bakery (191 Mactaggart Dr, Nobleton) and King's Classic Pizza (a directory trace at 12984 Hwy 27, the address Taj Royal publishes — see its card). Held on status, not quality: Route 27 Gastropub & Venue (13775 Hwy 27, Nobleton), a Taste of King participant in the Township's 2024 line-up whose current place record reads possibly temporarily closed — refused this pass until its status settles on a house surface. Seated chains are named, not carded, beyond the two breakfast rooms carded with their status disclosed: Tim Hortons, McDonald's, A&W, Subway, Pizza Pizza, Two-For-One Pizza & Wings and barBurrito (Nobleton, 13255 Hwy 27).

Two disciplines, stated plainly. First, community meals: the township's record carries no counted community meal. The meal audit's interim ruling is printed exactly as it stands: the King Township Food Bank is provision, not a meal, and is excluded on that form; the one verified public breakfast — a Mayor's Pancake Breakfast at a recreation centre opening in January 2025 — was a one-off and is excluded on cadence; parish suppers are the audit's named lead line, with no King congregation's own surface yet publishing a supper's terms. None of it is dining, and none of it is listed as dining here. Second, the refusals: Villaggio Ristorante (110 Nashville Rd) surfaces in Nobleton searches but is seated in Kleinburg, in the City of Vaughan — refused, as is every Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Caledon table, however the directories file it. The Holland Marsh's shared tables are likewise not imported as King's alone.

Common questions

Is there a farmers' market in King Township?

Two real markets are documented — the Schomberg Farmers' Market (alternate Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., June to mid-October at the Schomberg agricultural grounds, on Township calendars) and the King City Farmers Market (alternate Sundays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 12935 Keele St) — but neither carries a verified current season: the Schomberg operator's season notice is stale and King City's operator could not be reached. Check the operator or the Township's current community calendar before a market trip; no 2026 dates are claimed here. Highway 9 Farmers Market (3890 Hwy 9, Kettleby) is a standing farm shop with daily hours, not a periodic market.

Where do I eat in King City?

Along Keele Street and King Road: Hogan's (12998 Keele St) for the fine-dining inn and its Hunt Pub on weekend nights, Locale (12981 Keele St) for scratch-kitchen Italian, Paper Crane (12975 Keele St) for sushi, The Roost Cafe (12974 Keele St) for brunch in a century home, and on King Road Vivo Avanti (2124 King Rd) and Motorino (1700 King Rd) for pasta and wood-fired pizza.

Where do I eat on Schomberg's Main Street?

What is the oldest restaurant in King Township?

Hogan's Restaurant in King City dates itself to 1851 on the house's own account — a mid-1800s inn at 12998 Keele St, still serving modern European and Canadian dinners, with the Hunt Pub in the same building on Friday and Saturday nights.

Where is breakfast in King Township?

In This Corner Bar & Grill (17250 Hwy 27, Unit 6, Schomberg) for the all-day breakfast its village swears by, The Roost Cafe (12974 Keele St, King City) for brunch, The Grackle Coffee Company (208 Main St, Schomberg) for coffee and baking, Cappuccino Bakery (5978 King Rd, Nobleton) from 6 a.m., and the two disclosed Sunset Grill locations (1700 King Rd, King City; 13255 Hwy 27, Nobleton) daily from 7.
