Port of Cork (Cobh): the essentials
Cobh Cruise Terminal — on the waterfront at Cobh, about 130km from Kenmare — is Ireland's only dedicated cruise terminal. 2026 was a record season: 103 cruise calls between April and October, up 14% on 2025, contributing an estimated €17 million to the local economy. Most ships berth right beside the Cobh Heritage Centre in the middle of town; smaller vessels can sail up the Lee to berth in Cork city itself.

Getting to Cobh from Kenmare
It's about 130km: Kenmare → Bantry → Cork → Cobh, roughly two and a half hours by car. By public transport, take the bus to Cork city, then the Cobh–Cork train — about 30 minutes, running every half hour when ships are in. If you're sailing from Cobh, the civilised move is a night in Cork or Cobh beforehand; the Heritage Centre and the Titanic Trail are right at the berth.
2027 sailings calling at Cobh
Already on the 2027 books:

- Celebrity Eclipse — 13-night British Isles, 6 May 2027.

Shore excursions worth leaving the ship for
- Blarney Castle — kiss the stone, walk the gardens; the classic Cobh day trip.
- Kinsale — harbour town, famously good food, about an hour away.
- Cork city — English Market, Shandon bells, 30 minutes by train.
- Titanic Trail & Spike Island — Cobh was the Titanic's last port of call; both are walkable from the terminal.
- Kenmare & the Ring of Kerry — yes, really: south-west tours run from the port, and Kenmare is the natural lunch stop. See our day trips from Kenmare for the route.
Bantry Bay: the closer option
Here's what the big guides miss: Bantry Bay, about 30km from Kenmare, received 11 cruise vessels in 2026. Smaller ships anchor in the bay and tender ashore — Glengarriff, Garnish Island and the Beara Peninsula on your doorstep. If you're choosing a small-ship itinerary, check whether Bantry is on it; it's the West Cork way to cruise.
The fly-cruise alternative
No Ireland sailing fits? Southampton remains the British Isles' big departure port — fly Kerry or Cork to a UK hub, or Dublin direct, and join the ship there. It's the practical route for the big transatlantic and Norwegian-fjords itineraries that don't call at Cobh.
Booking smart
A few honest notes before you put down a deposit:
- Best time to book: wave season (January–March) usually has the sharpest fares; last-minute suits flexible travellers.
- What to pack: layers, a proper rain jacket, and sensible shore-excursion shoes — Cobh in October is not the Caribbean.
- Excursions: ship tours are convenient but pricey; independent operators at Cobh run the same headline trips (Blarney, Kinsale, Cork city) for less — just watch the all-aboard time.
