Innisfil is a Lake Simcoe town on the west shore of Cook's Bay in Simcoe County — a string of shoreline and farm communities under one council: Alcona, the largest, plus Stroud, Lefroy, Cookstown, Gilford and Churchill. The town counts 43,326 people (Statistics Canada, 2021 Census, Town of Innisfil census subdivision) — that is the only population figure this guide uses for the town. You will see 43,832 attached to Innisfil in candidate listings, and 29,464 attached to the Innisfil population centre; the first is a superseded figure no census source carries, and the second is the Alcona-centred urban area inside the town, never the town itself. Innisfil has its own council at Town Hall in Alcona, its own three-branch library and its own farmers' market — what it does not have is a cinema, a campus, an animal shelter or an operating GO station, and this guide says those things plainly rather than letting you plan around them. It also sits about 12 kilometres from Barrie, and that one fact shapes everything below: Barrie is close, and Barrie is not Innisfil.
Photos for Innisfil are still on their way. Every listing below is real.
Innisfil in one page
The Town of Innisfil sits at 44.3008, -79.6074 in the America/Toronto time zone — that point is Innisfil Town Hall, 2101 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona, where the town's own nine-member council (Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Wards 1 to 7) meets, with Simcoe County as the upper tier. The registry covers a 25-kilometre radius from Town Hall, which takes in Cookstown in the southwest and the Big Bay Point shore in the northeast. It also, unavoidably, takes in Barrie: that city's centre is roughly 12 kilometres away, inside the circle. So the discipline on these pages is not distance, it is municipal seat. Every listing names the community it actually sits in, and anything seated in Barrie — its arena, its junior hockey team, its cinemas, its Catholic parish — is Barrie's record, never borrowed as Innisfil content however many Innisfil residents use it. The same firewall holds for Georgina across Cook's Bay, Bradford West Gwillimbury and Essa.
The shape of the town takes a drive to learn. Alcona holds Town Hall, the flagship library branch, the big recreation complex and the town's only secondary school. Stroud, up Yonge Street, holds the arena, curling club, library branch and market lot that share one civic address. Lefroy holds the south arena and the town's Legion branch. Cookstown, the old farm village in the southwest, holds its own chamber, its own library branch, an outlet centre and the steam show grounds. Most Innisfil weeks move between two or three of those communities.
The anchors: resort, rink, speedway, stage
Four anchors carry most of what a visitor — or a new resident — first meets in Innisfil.
Friday Harbour Resort
3999 Friday Drive, Big Bay Point · In Innisfil · resort-run public programme
A large all-season Lake Simcoe resort seated inside Innisfil at Big Bay Point — marina, golf, the Promenade village and a year-round public events programme, from an Easter Egg Hunt to Canada Day fireworks. It is Innisfil's own anchor, and its productions are the resort's: its Canada Day fireworks are a resort production, never the Town's, however regional roundups label them.
Innisfil Recreational Complex
7315 Yonge St, Alcona · Two pads · pool · YMCA partner · Alcona
The town's most attended facility: two ice pads, a pool, fitness and gym space, operated with the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, and home ice for the Innisfil Winterhawks. Drop-in times live on the Town's and the YMCA's current schedules; none are reprinted here out of date.
Sunset Speedway
6918 Yonge St, south of Stroud · Since 1968 · 9,000 seats · Saturday nights in season
A NASCAR-sanctioned third-mile asphalt oval operating since 1968, with room for 9,000 — the town's motorsport anchor, with a weekly Saturday-night programme in season. The track's own schedule is where race dates live; none are derived here from the season pattern.
South Simcoe Theatre
1 Hamilton St, Cookstown · Live community theatre · not a cinema
A volunteer-run live community theatre in Cookstown's former Town Hall, around 200 seats — plays and musicals on its own published seasons. It is named here with a warning attached: it shows no films. Innisfil has no cinema, and this stage is not one.
Stroud, Lefroy and Cookstown: the working communities
Stroud's civic heart is one address: 7883 Yonge St, where the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre's arena pad, the Stroud Curling Club, a library branch and the farmers'-market lot share the grounds. Three distinct records at one address — never blurred into one listing. The curling club is a live tier in its own right: its own site carries registration for the 2026-27 season and a notice that the club side stays open through the recreation-building works. No dated bonspiel list was published on a surface the town crew could read, so none is printed here — and two heritage figures the club's own surfaces disagree on, its founding year and its sheet count, are printed as neither until the club settles them.
In Lefroy, the Morgan Russell Memorial Arena and Community Centre, 1354 Killarney Beach Rd, is one facility that also answers to South Innisfil Community Centre — two names, never counted twice. A few minutes away in Lefroy-Belle Ewart stands the town's one verified Legion: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 547, 1017 Robinson St. Directories and briefs sometimes imply a second Innisfil branch; none has been verified on a primary surface, and the question is carried open, not filled. Cookstown anchors the southwest: its own chamber of commerce, the Georgian Bay Steam Show grounds at 4635 Victoria St W, Tanger Outlets Cookstown at 3311 County Road 89 — an open-air outlet centre with its own events channel, never an enclosed mall — and a village centre that fills for the Wing Ding each June. Churchill, in the east, keeps its community centre at 6322 Yonge St, home of this year's Diwali Utsav.
The festival year, as published
Innisfil's year opens at Friday Harbour with the resort's Annual Easter Egg Hunt — Sunday, April 5, 2026 on the Promenade. June belongs to Cookstown: the 43rd Annual Cookstown Wing Ding on Saturday, June 6, a town-wide day of garage sales, vendors and food run by the Cookstown chamber, and the 8th annual Innisfil Ribfest, June 19 to 21 at Tanger Outlets Cookstown. Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, needs its two forms kept apart, because roundups merge them: Friday Harbour closed its resort celebration with fireworks at 10 p.m. — the resort's production — while the Town's own published pattern is an evening celebration at Innisfil Beach Park in Alcona, and Legion Branch 547 ran a Town-supported community event in Lefroy-Belle Ewart. The fireworks most 'Innisfil fireworks' listings mean are the resort's.
The Civic Holiday weekend brings the Georgian Bay Steam Show, July 31 to August 3 at the Cookstown grounds — an antique-machinery show, and never re-badged as an agricultural fair. August stacks up: RockStock Canada, August 14 to 16 at Sunset Speedway, and Gussapolooza, August 21 to 23, back at the Steam Show grounds. The library's 12th Annual MakerFEST ran September 12, and the Town's own fall festival, InnisFALL, ran October 3 at Innisfil Town Square, 971 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona. Still ahead: the Innisfil Indian Association's Diwali Utsav, Saturday, October 24, 2026, 4 to 9 p.m. at Churchill Community Centre. Every one of those editions is recorded with its real date on the events page — the past ones as the annual fixtures they are, never dressed up as upcoming.
The resident layer: library, council, hockey — and an honest gap on meals
The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is the town's own system, with three branches: Lakeshore at 967 Innisfil Beach Rd in Alcona, Cookstown at 20 Church St, and Stroud at 7883 Yonge St. Listings that show a fourth, Churchill branch are stale — that branch closed in 2022. The library is the strongest dated-programme surface in town: HackLAB and MediaLAB sessions, storytimes, book clubs and one-offs like the Writer's Fair publish on its own calendar first. Council is equally direct: agendas, minutes and reports ride the Town's CivicWeb portal at innisfil.civicweb.net — mind the name, because Innisfail, Alberta sits on the same platform and pollutes every search — and the published 2026 schedule puts council in the chamber on Wednesday, November 4, at the Inaugural Meeting on Wednesday, November 18, and again on Wednesday, December 16, all at 7 p.m.
On the ice, the Innisfil Winterhawks of the Innisfil Minor Hockey Association skate across the town's three arena sites — the Recreational Complex in Alcona, Stroud, and Morgan Russell in Lefroy. Fixtures live on the association's and league's published schedules; none are derived here. And one gap is stated plainly because neighbouring towns fill it and Innisfil, on current evidence, does not: no recurring seated community meal seated in Innisfil has been verified. What is verified is food provision — the Innisfil Food Bank at Innisfil Community Church, 1571 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona, by appointment, and the Troy Scott Community Fridges at three sites. Provision is real help and it is recorded as itself; it is never upgraded into a community meal that was not found.
The market, in season and out of it
The Innisfil Farmers' Market runs in the Stroud Arena north lot, 7883 Yonge St, Stroud, on Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m. — and its verified 2026 season ran May 28 to October 8, 2026, twenty Thursdays in the operator's own application. Read the tense carefully: that final market day was Thursday, October 8, and the season is now concluded. The market returns in spring, and the operator's own pages are where the next season's dates will appear. Older listings that seat the market at the Innisfil Recreational Complex, or run it 2 to 7 p.m., are working from before July 2022 — the Stroud seat and the 1-to-6 hours govern.
Getting here, honestly
By air, Toronto Pearson, YYZ, is the gateway: the road run from Alcona is in the class of roughly 86 kilometres, labelled an estimate from routing sources. Innisfil is a Lake Simcoe destination and a YYZ arrival base, not a stopover — no layover guide is offered for it. Buttonville Airport is closed (November 2023) and is never an option, and Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, outside town in Oro-Medonte, is general aviation and charter only, with no scheduled service.
The rail picture needs the same honesty, in both directions. The Innisfil GO station, planned for the 6th Line on the Barrie line, is a planned station only — carried in GO Expansion planning and tied to The Orbit development. It is not operating, it is not under construction on any surface checked, and it carries no opening date; never plan around it. The nearest operating GO stations, Barrie South and Allandale Waterfront, are in Barrie. But the bus is the opposite story, and it is good news: GO Bus Route 68 genuinely stops in Innisfil, along Yonge Street at Lynn Street, at Victoria Street and 10th Line in Stroud, at Innisfil Beach Road, at Killarney Beach Road in Churchill, and at County Road 89 and Shore Acres Drive near Gilford. Inside town, transit is Innisfil Transit — the Town's subsidized Uber-voucher programme, not a bus service — and Simcoe County LINX does not serve Innisfil; its Barrie-Innisfil-Bradford corridor is a planned future route, printed at planned strength only.
What Innisfil does not have
So nobody plans around a phantom: there is no cinema in Innisfil — the houses that show up for Innisfil postal codes are in Barrie, and they are Barrie's. There is no post-secondary campus: Georgian College's own list runs to seven campuses and none is here, while Toronto Metropolitan University's DMZ programme, seated at 8000 Yonge St in Stroud, is an entrepreneurship programme with public workshops — a real asset, and not a campus. There is no animal shelter in town: the Ontario SPCA's Barrie Animal Centre serves Innisfil from its Barrie seat, an arrangement recorded here, never re-badged as an Innisfil venue; the Town runs its own lost-and-found dog service. There is no current agricultural fair: the Cookstown Agricultural Society's fair is a documented tradition that runs to its 142nd edition in 2000, no current edition is verified, and the fair most people call the Barrie Fair belongs to Essa, seated in Thornton. And there is no cruise product: Cook's Bay and Lake Simcoe carry marinas and recreational fleets, not passenger vessels.
Common questions
How many people live in Innisfil?
43,326, from the 2021 Census (Statistics Canada), for the Town of Innisfil. The figure 29,464 describes the Innisfil population centre — the Alcona-centred urban area inside the town — and 43,832 is a superseded candidate figure no census source carries. Neither is the town's population.
Is there a GO station in Innisfil?
Not an operating one. An Innisfil station at the 6th Line is planned under GO Expansion, but it is not built, not under construction on any surface checked, and has no opening date. The nearest operating stations are Barrie South and Allandale Waterfront, both in Barrie. GO Bus Route 68 does stop in town along Yonge Street.
Is there a movie theatre in Innisfil?
No. Innisfil has no cinema; the theatres returned for Innisfil postal codes are in Barrie. The South Simcoe Theatre in Cookstown is a live community theatre and shows no films.
Is the Innisfil Farmers' Market running now?
Its verified 2026 season ran Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m., May 28 to October 8, 2026, in the Stroud Arena north lot, and that season has concluded. The market returns in spring; check the operator's own pages for the next season's dates.
Is Friday Harbour part of Innisfil?
Yes — the resort at 3999 Friday Drive, Big Bay Point, sits inside Innisfil, and its public programme is Innisfil content. Its Canada Day fireworks, though, are the resort's own production; the Town's Canada Day pattern is Innisfil Beach Park in Alcona.
How many Legion branches does Innisfil have?
One verified branch: Branch 547 at 1017 Robinson St in Lefroy-Belle Ewart. A second branch has been looked for and not verified on any primary surface; it is carried as an open question, not printed as fact either way.
