Shopping in Raikot
Three bazaars, a grain mandi and a sabzi mandi - Raikot's shopping is the old town's lanes, not malls. Here's the circuit.
Shopping the old town
Raikot's retail is the bazaar - three of them, really, bleeding into each other around the old town.
The bazaar circuit
Kutba Bazaar
The oldest lanes - cloth shops, jutti and phulkari sellers, and the small Kutba Gurudwara at the far end. This is where you buy the dupatta or the jutti pair, at non-tourist prices, with bargaining expected and friendly.
Committee Bazaar
The everyday commercial strip - kirana stores, the Passi Bakery, mobile shops, tailors. Modern Boutique Raikot (listed among the town's landmarks) sits in this orbit for stitched suits and boutique work.
Mahavir Jain Bazar
Kirana and general stores - Vardhman Karyana Store and neighbours. The provisioning bazaar more than the browsing one.
Dana Mandi & grain market
The working market: grain mandi, sabzi mandi, commission agents. Come in the morning for the full noise and colour - it's commerce as spectacle.
Easy Day Club & Oz Supermarket
The organised-retail end: Easy Day for the weekly shop, Oz Supermarket on the bypass for the drive-through version.
Chopra Fashion Point
Listed as the town's clothing-store landmark - ready-made garments on the main road.
What to buy
Phulkari dupattas and juttis in Kutba Bazaar; suits stitched at the boutiques; pickles, papad and spices from the kirana stores; fresh produce at the sabzi mandi. This isn't souvenir shopping - it's buying what the town itself buys, which is more interesting anyway.
