Hiking & walking

Hiking and walking in Saint-Eustache: a river shore and one mont

Water-shaped walking: a heritage quarter, a nature park, river parks and one slope, each named as itself.

Walking in Saint-Eustache runs along a river, through a heritage quarter and up one mont

Saint-Eustache's walking ground is water-shaped: a great river's north shore, strung with parks and a promenade, a heritage quarter made for strolling, a nature park inside the town and the mont Saint-Eustache for the one real climb. This page maps that ground at its real places -- and keeps every shore named as the town's own, because the regional Mille Iles park body is Laval-seated and its programming is never re-badged as this town's.

The river is the trail. From the promenade Paul-Sauve behind the church through Parc Riviere-Nord to parc Nature, the water does the wayfinding. In winter the walking ground narrows to the lit and the hosted: the Soiree aux flambeaux walks parc Nature's trails by torchlight (the 2026 edition ran February 14, 6-9 p.m.), and the town's outdoor rinks carry the rest.

The walking ground, piece by piece

The Vieux quarter

In town -- heritage at walking pace

The quarter is the town's best-known walking ground: mill, manoir, church and market street within a few hundred metres, with the promenade Paul-Sauve running behind the church to the river.

Parc Nature Saint-Eustache

In town -- trails, plain and the torchlit night

The parc Nature (parking at 765 boulevard Arthur-Sauve for its winter evening) carries the town's trail walking and its February flambeaux night, with a new pavilion opened January 22, 2026.

Parc Riviere-Nord and the river parks

706 rue Primeau and the shore -- the everyday miles

Parc Riviere-Nord, the Boise des Moissons (canoe initiation on the river ran there October 3, 2026, on the Ville's calendar) and the river parks string the shore into a daily route. Short, scenic and entirely in town.

The mont Saint-Eustache

In town -- the slope and the prospect

The mont's parc carries the winter glissade and patinoire and the town's one rise -- the ground the Plaisirs d'hiver programme uses for its January day (one 2026 fixture there was cancelled for extreme cold and not rescheduled; the pattern is the town's, the caution is real).

Seasons on the ground

Spring is the quiet shore -- the Demi-Marathon des Guepards runs Parc Riviere-Nord on May 3. Summer is the promenade's season: market Saturdays, the Mercredis concerts and the river at full stretch. Fall colours the Vieux through the galette and market weeks. Winter shortens the walking to the quarter and the hosted evenings -- and moves the town's exercise indoors, to the pools and rinks on the indoor page.

Common questions

Where can you walk or hike in Saint-Eustache?

The Vieux-Saint-Eustache quarter and promenade Paul-Sauve for heritage walking, parc Nature Saint-Eustache for trails, Parc Riviere-Nord and the river parks for the everyday miles, and the mont Saint-Eustache for the town's one rise.

Can you walk the Mille Iles shore in winter?

The hosted way is the town's own: the Soiree aux flambeaux at parc Nature (February 14, 2026) walks a torchlit trail with fires and entertainment. The rest of the winter shore is a resident's judgement call -- this guide points walkers to the hosted evenings rather than onto the ice.
