Where to eat

Where to eat in Innisfil

A lake town of 43,326 that eats by community: Alcona's beach-road counters, Stroud's breakfast house, Lefroy's marina patio, Gilford's lakeside solarium, Cookstown's diner row — and Friday Harbour's resort rooms, which are Innisfil's own. Nineteen verified listings, all in Innisfil — and the farmers' market, honestly concluded.

Photos for Innisfil are still on their way. Every listing below is real.

A lake town of 43,326 that eats from Alcona to Cookstown

Innisfil is one town wrapped around the west shore of Lake Simcoe and Cook's Bay, and nobody here talks about a single downtown menu. Alcona, the largest community, eats along Innisfil Beach Road; Stroud keeps the Yonge Street breakfast trade and the Thursday farmers' market; Lefroy eats at its marina; Gilford keeps a lakeside patio on Shore Acres Drive; Cookstown, down in the southwest, runs a proper little main-street food row of its own; and out at Big Bay Point, the Friday Harbour resort — which sits inside Innisfil, whatever the Barrie datelines imply — adds resort dining rooms a few minutes from a country-dining room that locals guard like a secret. The 2021 census counted 43,326 people in the Town of Innisfil, and nineteen listings follow: one market anchor whose season ends today, and eighteen venue cards, every one seated inside Innisfil itself.

The firewall is stated plainly, because here it does real work: Barrie is about twelve kilometres from Alcona, closer than Cookstown is, and its restaurant rows are deep — and not one Barrie table is borrowed here. Bradford West Gwillimbury, Essa and Georgina across Cook's Bay are likewise their own towns' pages. Where sources disagreed on hours or phone numbers, the disagreement is printed in the card rather than smoothed over, and where no hours could be verified, none are printed.

The market anchor: a real season, ending today

Innisfil Farmers' Market, Stroud — 2026 season CONCLUDED Oct 8; spring return

Stroud Arena north lot, 7883 Yonge St, Stroud · Thursdays 1:00–6:00 p.m. in season · 2026 season ran May 28–Oct 8 (20 weeks) and has CONCLUDED

Innisfil's market is the genuine article: an operator-run Thursday market in the north lot of the Stroud arena, published in the operator's own 2026 vendor application as twenty weeks of Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m., from May 28 to October 8, 2026. Honesty about the calendar matters more than a good anchor, so here it is in bold: that final market day is today, October 8, 2026 — the 2026 season has concluded. Do not drive to Stroud on a Thursday expecting stalls until the operator publishes the spring return; watch the operator's own page for the 2027 season. Older listings still placing this market at the Innisfil Recreational Complex, or running it 2 to 7 p.m., are describing where it sat before July 2022 — stale, and printed nowhere here. In season, this is the town's Thursday-afternoon centre of gravity: farm produce, baking and prepared food steps from Stroud's Yonge Street tables. The Innisfil Farmers' Market's site.

Alcona and Innisfil Beach Road: burgers, wings, Chinese and the poutine counter

Johnny Burger — the old-school drive-in burger stand

847 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona · +1 705-431-2218 · Daily 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Fri–Sat to 10:00 p.m. per its place record · Inexpensive

The beach road's burger institution: an old-school drive-in-style stand doing homemade burgers, halibut and chips, poutine, gyros on a pita and deep-fried pickles, in portions reviewers keep calling generous, at prices that stay family-friendly. Thick-cut, skin-on fries are the recurring praise, and there is ice cream for the walk back from the beach. The honest trade-off is format: this is a counter and a patio, built for a summer evening, not a long sit-down dinner. Johnny Burger's site.

C.W. Coop's — wings and pub plates on the beach road's east end

808 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona · +1 705-431-1234 · Sun 11:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Mon–Tue 11:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m., Wed–Sat 11:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A chicken-and-wings bar and grill out toward the lake end of Innisfil Beach Road: wings and boneless chicken are the house specialty, backed by poutine with curds, a Southwest chicken Caesar, a Southwest chicken sandwich and jalapeño cream-cheese poppers. It runs the latest kitchen on this stretch of the road — 11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday on its record — which makes it the default when the beach day runs long and the group still wants a sit-down plate and a drink. It trades on its social page rather than a house site. C.W. Coop's page.

Young Chow Garden — family-run Chinese since 2004

918 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona · +1 705-431-8688 · Mon–Wed 3:30–9:30 p.m., Thu–Sat 11:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m., Sun 3:00–9:30 p.m. per the house site · Moderate

Alcona's Chinese kitchen for more than two decades: a family-run room whose own site counts over two hundred menu items, from the classics — chicken balls, fried rice, mixed vegetables — to the house namesakes, Young Chow fried rice and Young Chow Garden steak, plus Thai red curry scallops and crispy wontons. The practical shape is the flag: Monday to Wednesday and Sunday are dinner-only services opening mid-afternoon, so a weekday lunch plan belongs to Thursday through Saturday. The house offers free local delivery over a threshold and a pick-up discount; directory listings stretch some closing times by half an hour to an hour against the house week printed here — the house governs. Young Chow Garden's site.

Queen Pouteen — ten-plus poutines on Innisfil Beach Road

1455 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona · +1 705-716-4459 · Mon–Fri 12:00–8:00 p.m., Sat–Sun 12:00–7:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

A single-subject counter, and proud of it: more than ten poutine varieties — the supreme is the named stack — built on home-cut fries, alongside homemade pogos, homeburgers, peameal bacon and mushroom caps. It sits in the plaza cluster at the west end of the beach road, a short walk from the Town Hall end of Alcona, and keeps a tidy noon-start week that ends at 7 on weekends. That early weekend close is the trade-off: this is a lunch and early-supper stop, not a late one. It trades on its social page. Queen Pouteen's page.

La buona cucina — the beach road's daytime Italian kitchen

1060 Innisfil Beach Rd, Alcona · +1 647-521-9565 · Daily 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

An Italian-named kitchen on the beach road's central run, trading a daytime week — 7 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon, every day on its place record. It is carded honestly at the strength the evidence supports: the address, the phone and the hours are verified from its record, but no house menu could be verified in this pass, so no dish is claimed for it here rather than borrowed from a directory's imagination. A morning or lunch stop to try and report back on; dinner plans belong elsewhere on this page. La buona cucina's site.

Sandycove and Lockhart Road: the diner and the fish-and-chips counter

The Cove Cafe — the Sandycove diner

902 Lockhart Rd, Sandycove (Alcona side) · +1 705-436-2654 · Hours conflict — see flag · Moderate

The family-run diner for the Sandycove Acres side of town: home-cooked plates across breakfast, lunch and dinner, with daily specials and homemade soups, a halibut and chips that regulars single out, a club salad, chicken pot pie and coconut cream pie to finish. Hours carry a real conflict, printed not merged: its place record gives Sunday 8–7, Tuesday to Thursday opening at noon to 7:30, and Friday–Saturday 8–7:30, with Monday absent — while menu listings give a flat daily 8-to-7:30-or-8 week. Breakfast timing is where they collide, so a Monday or early-weekday-morning plan deserves a phone call first. The Cove Cafe's site.

Jen's Fish & Chips — halibut and hand-cut fries, same plaza

902 Lockhart Rd, Sandycove (Alcona side) · +1 705-294-3474 · Mon 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Tue–Wed 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Thu 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Fri 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Sat 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. per its listings record (Sunday not in the record) · Inexpensive

The Cove's plaza-mate and the specialist half of the Lockhart Road stop: a fish-and-chips counter built on meaty halibut in a crisp batter, hand-cut fries and homemade coleslaw. Two fish-centred rooms at one address is not a duplication — the Cove is the full-menu diner, Jen's is the fry shop, and Sandycove regulars pick by craving. No house website was verified in this pass; it trades on listings and word of mouth, and its Sunday is simply not in the record reached, so none is printed.

Stroud: the breakfast house by the market lot

Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House — Stroud's breakfast room

7905 Yonge St, Stroud · +1 705-294-8000 · Daily 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. · Moderate

The Yonge Street breakfast institution a few doors from the market lot and the arena: the Stroud location of an Ontario breakfast chain — disclosed as such — in the room older locals remember as Flapjacks. The menu runs deep for a 7-to-3 day: pancake stacks including chocolate-caramel-brownie and blueberry-cheesecake versions, a Cinnabon-style pancake diners rave about, waffle stacks, meat-lovers' plates, omelettes and benedicts, with a house strawberry jam people mention by name. The honest trade-offs are the chain format and the hard 3 p.m. close: this is breakfast and lunch only, and weekend lineups are part of the Stroud Saturday ritual. Stacked Stroud's listing.

Lefroy and Gilford: marina plates and the lakeside patio

Harbour House Grill — the Lefroy marina table

727 Harbour St, Lefroy · +1 249-388-3151 per its current house record (see flag) · Hours conflict — see flag · Moderate

Lefroy eats at its harbour: a marina-side grill at Lefroy Harbour with a big patio, live music nights and a kitchen whose named plates run to a slow-braised short rib pappardelle, fish and chips, a lamb burger, crab arancini, clam chowder and a salmon detox bowl. This card carries the page's widest flags, printed rather than hidden: its phone also circulates as 705-456-3663 on older listings against the current house number printed here, and its hours disagree across every surface reached — its place record gives a near-daily week, a current review surface gives a Thursday-to-Sunday pattern (Thu–Fri evenings, Sat from noon, Sun to 8), and older listings give still other weeks. The patio, the music and the short rib are certain; the night you plan to go is worth one phone call. Harbour House's site.

Gilford Local Eatery — the Shore Acres Drive patio

1096 Shore Acres Dr, Gilford · +1 705-290-0101 · Split-service week per its place record — see card · Moderate

Gilford's own table, and the shore's quiet alternative to the resort strip: a lakeside eatery whose own description promises a 3,000-square-foot patio with homemade burgers, a cocktail bar, craft beer and live music in summer, then turns inward to an intimate solarium with elevated small plates and craft cocktails in winter. The named plates: a bacon blue cheese burger, a brisket poutine, a peameal sandwich regulars call the best they have had, and tacos. Its week is genuinely unusual and is printed exactly as its record gives it — Sunday 11–8; Thursday 11–2 then 4–9; Friday and Saturday 11–2 then 5–9 — with Monday to Wednesday absent from the record, so none are printed. Split lunch-and-dinner services mean a 3 p.m. arrival finds a closed door. Gilford Local Eatery's site.

Cookstown: the King and Queen Street food row

Hot Stacks Family Restaurant — Cookstown's breakfast diner

29 King St N, Cookstown · +1 705-458-9933 · Daily 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. per the house · Inexpensive

The north end of King Street starts the day here: a family diner open seven days, 7 to 3, doing the full classic breakfast register — a lumberjack breakfast for serious appetites, cinnamon apple pancakes, banana bread French toast, bacon pancakes and eggs Benedict — in portions diners describe as half-a-plate-of-home-fries generous, at diner prices. It is Cookstown's default morning meeting place, and its 3 p.m. close is the only catch: the row's breakfast and lunch, never its dinner. Hot Stacks' site.

Master Burger — banquet burgers and halibut on King Street South

25 King St S, Cookstown · +1 705-458-9651 · Sun 12:00–7:00 p.m., Wed–Sat 11:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. per its place record (Mon–Tue not in the record) · Moderate

King Street's burger counter with an 80s-and-90s diner feel: the flagship is the Master Banquet Burger, and the menu runs wider than the name suggests — fresh halibut and chips, chicken souvlaki, a Greek salad and thick milkshakes, with a patio for the Wing Ding crowds. People report driving the better part of an hour for these burgers, and the portions justify the talk. Its record publishes no Monday or Tuesday hours, so they are not printed here rather than invented — a midweek plan starts Wednesday on this evidence. It trades on its social page. Master Burger's page.

The Cookstown Pub Co — Queen Street's pub

52 Queen St, Cookstown · +1 705-291-2000 · Sun 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Mon–Tue 11:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., Wed 11:00 a.m.–midnight, Thu 11:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., Fri 11:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m., Sat 11:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

Cookstown's pub anchor, billing its wings as the best north of Toronto — the house's own claim, and the pound-of-wings reviews back the confidence. The kitchen is broader than wings: French onion soup, loaded nachos, fish and chips, handmade pizzas, a pulled pork sandwich, ribs, and a chicken tikka masala that tells you this is a modern Ontario pub kitchen, not a fryer-only one. Friday runs to 1 a.m. on its record, the latest close in Cookstown, and the patio is the summer seat. The Cookstown Pub Co's site.

Toast Homestyle — breakfast til two on Queen Street

24 Queen St, Cookstown · +1 705-458-0000 · Sun–Mon + Wed–Sat 8:01 a.m.–2:00 p.m. per its place record (Tuesday not in the record) · Inexpensive

Queen Street's homestyle breakfast-and-lunch room, keeping a short 8-to-2 day (the record's charming 8:01 opening is printed as published). The named plates mix the diner canon with a couple of signatures: a breakfast poutine, a bhurji chicken, a veggie clubhouse sandwich, a roast beef special and a spicy chicken soup. Between Toast, Hot Stacks two blocks north and Master Burger across King Street, Cookstown feeds a whole morning without leaving two streets — but note Tuesday is absent from Toast's record, so a Tuesday plan leans on the others.

Burger Station — the Highway 89 Train Wreck

5444 5th Side Rd #5, Cookstown (Highway 89 corridor) · +1 705-458-1592 · Sun 11:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m., Mon–Thu 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Fri 10:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Sat 11:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m. per its place record · Moderate

The cottage-country drive's Cookstown stop: a burger stand on the Highway 89 corridor at the 5th Side Road, famous locally for a signature stack it calls the Train Wreck, plus chicken burgers, chicken tenders, a chicken Greek salad and lettuce wraps for the lighter lane. Friday opens earliest and closes latest, tuned to the weekend traffic rolling past. It is a stand, not a dining room — order, eat well, and let the highway have you back. Burger Station's site.

Friday Harbour and Big Bay Point: the resort rooms and the country secret

Beach Club Restaurant — the resort's beachfront dining room

3740 Sunreef Ave, Friday Harbour, Big Bay Point · +1 705-814-0044 · Thu 5:00–9:00 p.m., Fri–Sun 12:00–9:00 p.m. per its place record; Mon–Wed closed · Expensive

Friday Harbour is in Innisfil — the resort's restaurants are Innisfil listings, full stop — and the Beach Club is its beachfront room. The operator's own 2026 dinner menu is the evidence: a mezze platter built to share, a lamb burger and a Beach Club burger, harissa-roasted half chicken, spaghetti with lobster tail, a seafood risotto with grilled octopus and scallops, sumac branzino, an Angus tenderloin and a cauliflower steak for the vegetarian lane. The honest trade-offs are resort ones: prices sit at the top of this page, portions draw mixed reports, and the current week is a Thursday-to-Sunday pattern — a Tuesday dinner plan belongs at the Lake Club instead. The Beach Club at Friday Harbour.

Lake Club Restaurant — the marina dining room

330 Sunseeker Ave, Friday Harbour, Big Bay Point · +1 705-812-8884 · Daily from 11:00/11:30 a.m. to about 10:15–10:30 p.m. (listings vary slightly — see flag) · Expensive

The resort's marina-side flagship, and the Friday Harbour room that trades all week. Its own menus carry the signatures: truffle-oil Lake Club fries, a classic burger on an Angus chuck-and-brisket patty, a power salad with roasted chicken, quinoa and goat cheese, and a proper Caesar — and a published fall account of the room adds distinctly Canadian mains: salmon puttanesca, Georgian Bay whitefish and an Ontario lamb rack, with a thirteen-layer cake to finish. Expect resort prices and, on the reviews' honest telling, service that can slow when the room fills; the marina view is the compensation. One small flag: listings put the daily opening at 11 or 11:30 and the close at 10:15 or 10:30 depending on the surface — printed as a range rather than a false precision. The Lake Club on OpenTable.

Davidson's Country Dining — Big Bay Point's best-kept secret

73 Big Bay Point Rd, Big Bay Point · +1 705-436-1476 · Wed + Sun 4:30–8:30 p.m., Thu–Sat 4:30–9:00 p.m. per its place record (see flag) · Moderate

Not a resort room at all: a country dining room on Big Bay Point Road, a few minutes outside the Friday Harbour gates, whose own site calls it Innisfil's best-kept secret — and the locals' behaviour backs the billing. The cooking is classic country-fine: prime rib, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, schnitzel, chicken pie, garlic shrimp and crab cakes, then homemade pecan pie or bread pudding, with an espresso martini people name-check. Dinner only, five nights on its record, and the house asks for phone rather than online reservations. One flag: the house site's older published form runs Thursday to Saturday only, against the place record's five-night week printed here — a Wednesday or Sunday plan deserves the call. Davidson's Country Dining's site.

Named, not carded — and why: Fishbone Kitchen + Wine Bar (261 Sunseeker Ave, Friday Harbour) — a Portuguese-leaning seafood room long loved for its paella and octopus, but its current place record reads permanently closed; excluded until a reopening verifies, and flagged honestly: some December 2025 diner reviews still circulate against that record, so the closure is printed as the record states, not as gossip. Ren Sushi (311 Sunseeker Ave) and The Fork and Plate Family Grill (2383 25th Side Rd, Alcona) are likewise place-record permanently closed and excluded. Avenue (235 Sunseeker Ave, Friday Harbour; +1 705-294-4700; Italian on its listing) and the Promenade's smaller rooms named in resort listings — a marine-room gastropub, a Parisienne patisserie-bistro and a gelato bar among them — are real traces held for a listing-grade pass rather than carded on a list entry alone. The Getaway Restaurant at Georgian Downs (7485 5th Side Rd, Innisfil Heights) is named as the casino-and-racetrack table; no listing-grade menu was verified for it in this pass. National chains seated in Innisfil (the Innisfil Beach Road rotisserie-and-burger plaza among them) are not this page's subject. For Churchill, the honest record: no restaurant could be verified in the village in this pass — its community centre hosts the town's celebrations (the Diwali Utsav supper crowd among them), but a standing kitchen is a different claim, and none is made. Nothing seated in Barrie, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Essa or Georgina appears anywhere on this page — Barrie's tables may be closer to Alcona than Cookstown's are, and they are still Barrie's.

Community meals, stated plainly — the finalized record, printed exactly as found: Innisfil's community-meals tier (T56) was finalized on build day at 0 counted meals — terminal not applicable on the published record, with reopen triggers recorded. One candidate remains HELD, not counted: St. Paul's Anglican Church's fifth-Sunday soup luncheon passes on cadence (every fifth Sunday; the parish's own standing page restates the practice, and its Chronicle calendars a luncheon on Sunday, June 29, 2025) and on price (attendees donate to a charitable cause), but openness is still unproven — no statement that the luncheon is open to the public was found on any host or listing surface; its framing remains parish fellowship. One published welcome statement would reopen and settle it. Every other pass agrees: no recurring sit-down community meal seated in Innisfil was verified, and the Horodynsky Community Kitchen (a Town teaching kitchen at the Rizzardo Centre) is a programme kitchen, not a meal, as published. What is verified is food provision, which is not a meal and is never upgraded here: the Innisfil Food Bank at Innisfil Community Church in Alcona (by appointment) and the Troy Scott Community Fridges. Annual and one-off suppers — a soup contest, pancake breakfasts, a harvest dinner — are community events, not a standing community meal, and are described as such wherever they appear in Dayfari's Innisfil coverage.

Common questions

What food is Innisfil, Ontario known for?

Lake Simcoe shore cooking in two registers: beach-road comfort food in Alcona (Johnny Burger, Queen Pouteen's poutines, Young Chow Garden's Chinese), Cookstown's King and Queen Street diners and pub, marina plates in Lefroy and Gilford — and resort dining at Friday Harbour on Big Bay Point, which is in Innisfil.

Is the Innisfil Farmers' Market open now?

Its 2026 season has concluded. The market at the Stroud Arena north lot, 7883 Yonge St in Stroud, ran Thursdays 1–6 p.m. from May 28 to October 8, 2026 — that final day was October 8. Expect a spring return when the operator publishes the new season.

Are Friday Harbour's restaurants in Innisfil or Barrie?

In Innisfil. Friday Harbour sits at Big Bay Point inside the Town of Innisfil, so the Beach Club (3740 Sunreef Ave) and the Lake Club (330 Sunseeker Ave) are Innisfil listings — even though some booking sites file them under a Barrie neighbourhood.

Where can I eat in Cookstown?

Hot Stacks (29 King St N) and Toast Homestyle (24 Queen St) for breakfast, Master Burger (25 King St S) for banquet burgers and halibut, The Cookstown Pub Co (52 Queen St) for wings and the latest close in the village, and Burger Station on the Highway 89 corridor for the Train Wreck.

Is there a community supper in Innisfil?

None counts as a standing community meal on the finalized record. The one held candidate — St. Paul's Anglican's fifth-Sunday soup luncheon — passes on cadence and on its donation-based cost, and was calendared as recently as June 29, 2025, but no published statement that it is open to the public was found, so it does not count. The Innisfil Food Bank and the Troy Scott Community Fridges are food provision, not meals.
