Learning in Alma: registrations, leagues and the free library

A town that runs sign-ups like a utility -- here's where each door is.

Classes and experiences in Alma: the inscription machine, the cégep's continuing ed, and the clubs

Alma learns in public: a Ville that runs registrations like a utility, a cégep with a continuing-education arm, a vocational layer with dated offers, and clubs whose leagues are courses by another name. This page gathers the joining surfaces -- and keeps the discipline that a listing here is a structure with a door, never a timetable invented for tidiness.

The front door: the Ville's Service des loisirs et de la culture (418 669-5111), whose dated calendar is quoifairealma.com and whose 2026 tarification grid prices the town's drop-in life: activités libres (bain, patinage, piste d'athlétisme, hockey libre) at a single entry of 3,05 $ on the grid -- the Ville's own calendar page prints 3,50 $ adulte for evening-and-weekend sessions, and the two Ville figures are carried flagged, never merged -- a carte d'activités libres at 35 $ / 20 $, the Centre multisport indoor-track annual pass at 51 $, and bibliothèque membership free to citizens (25 $-45 $ for neighbours). Public skating is free on weekday mornings at both rinks.

Where to sign up

The Ville's courses

Aquatics sessions, Karibou, and the seasonal guides

The inscription-en-ligne machine on quoifairealma.com carries the children's aquatics sessions (five a year) and the Karibou preschool programme, and the Ville's seasonal programmation PDFs carry the adult layer beside them. Registrations open on the Ville's own calendar rhythm -- the surfaces, not this guide, hold the current windows.

The campus layer

Collège d'Alma formation continue (Expertis), CFP Alma and the CFGA

the Collège d'Alma, 675 boul. Auger Ouest -- an autonomous public cégep (in town since its own right; about 1,000 regular students), whose Jeannois field eight RSEQ sports and whose public layer includes La Tourelle and La Galerie. Its own road race, La Collégiale, ran its 5th edition on Sunday September 20, 2026 -- PAST: 1/3/5/10 km courses and a 5 km marche, inscription 45 $ with the 1/3 km free for children, profits to the Jeannois, and more than 800 participants on the Collège's own count. The UQAC centre d'études hosted at the same address is attributed to UQAC and Saguenay -- a hosted centre, never an Alma university. The vocational layer sits beside it: the CFP Alma and the CFGA (740 rue Bergeron Ouest) published dated course offers in September 2026 on the CSS's surfaces -- professional training as a class layer, at the grade its own offers print.

The club classrooms

Curling leagues, Boréal soccer, the skating clubs

the Club de curling Riverbend d'Alma, 1030 rue de la Gare Ouest, in the Riverbend sector across the Grande Décharge -- 'depuis 1928' in the club's own wording, four sheets as the club's own description states them. Its 2026-27 season is live on the club's own site: the Tournoi Molson runs Wed Nov 4 to Sun Nov 8, 2026, with a live inscription form, and the club then hosts the Curling Québec provincial circuit final, Thu Nov 12 to Sun Nov 15, 2026, with the U15 regionals to follow on Feb 6-7, 2027. Its leagues run evenings for adults, days for retirees, Friday mornings and a Sunday friendly, plus a junior league for ages 8-21. A league with a junior division and a retirees' day league is a school with better coffee. Soccer's classroom is Le Boréal's (automne-hiver season, evaluation camps), and the ice arts run through the Axels, Lames d'argent and Satellites clubs -- each registration on the club's own surface.

A note on the town's other classroom

Alma's diffuseur runs no classes, but its rooms teach the town its repertoire -- and the bibliothèque's programme (500 rue Collard Ouest, plus the Saint-Cœur-de-Marie point) is the free classroom underneath everything, membership free to citizens. For the visitor, the experience version of the class layer is the guided one: the Odyssée des Bâtisseurs' history programming and the Collège's La Tourelle and La Galerie rooms, on their operators' own surfaces.

Common questions

Where can I take a class in Alma?

Through the Ville's inscription machine on quoifairealma.com (aquatics sessions, Karibou and the seasonal programme), the Collège d'Alma's formation continue (Expertis), the CFP Alma and CFGA vocational offers, and the clubs -- Riverbend curling leagues (junior 8-21), Le Boréal soccer and the skating clubs.

Are there free classes or programmes in Alma?

The Bibliothèque d'Alma's programme is the free layer -- membership is free to Alma citizens on the Ville's own grid, at both the 500 rue Collard Ouest library and the Saint-Cœur-de-Marie point.
