Free things to do
Free things to do in Lakeshore: a real free layer, caveats printed
The library, the concerts, the street and the shore -- free on their hosts' own records, with the paid lines named.
Free things to do in Lakeshore -- with the paid lines printed, not hidden
Lakeshore's free layer is real: a four-branch library with free programming, a groomed public beach, free Town concerts in summer, a free street festival on Thanksgiving weekend and a parade night that costs nothing to watch. Two paid lines ride beside it, printed here rather than buried: the Town's drop-in programmes are paid (the Municipality's published Jan 5 to Jun 14, 2026 schedule listed drop-ins at $5.10 for ages 0 to 4 and 55-plus, and $6.10 for ages 5 to 54), and a market trip or a boat costs what it costs. Everything below is free on its host's own published record.
the Essex County Library -- a county system, governed from Essex, whose branches seated inside Lakeshore are this town's library layer: the Lakeshore Branch inside the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in Belle River, the Libro Centre Branch in South Woodslee, the Comber Branch on Main Street in Comber, and the Stoney Point Branch at 850 Comber Sideroad in Stoney Point, its current home. The system's other branches are their own towns' -- only the four Lakeshore-seated branches are Lakeshore content here. Programmes publish on the library's own calendar, branch-filtered; check the branch before planning around a session Its branch programmes are the town's best free-events surface.
The free layer, by kind
Free programming
Library programmes across the Belle River, South Woodslee, Comber and Stoney Point branches; the Good Neighbour Club's older-adult programme mix at 272 St. Paul Street in Belle River (bingo, cards, fitness and luncheons on the club's own record -- its luncheon terms are the club's to publish, and none are asserted here); and the shore parks themselves.
Free concerts and festivals
The Town's Lakeshore Parks Concert Series is free and outdoors in summer. Stroll the Street (Friday October 9, 2026) is a free street festival, and the Merry and Bright Parade (Friday November 27, 2026) is free to watch from Notre Dame Street. The Comber Fair is a gated fair -- its admission belongs to the society's surfaces, and no price is printed here because none was published for 2026 in the records read.
The shore itself
Standing on the shore, walking West Beach and watching the boats work costs nothing. The beach parking terms were not verified in this build, so this guide never prints the shore as unconditionally free for drivers -- check the Town's current parking rules before you go.
Free, with the work showing
Every item here is free on its host's own published record. Where a cost might attach -- drop-in fees, fair admission, beach parking -- the page says so at the item, because a free page that hides its paid lines is worse than no free page at all. One more honest note: the Community Support Centre's congregate dining in Belle River is a seniors' service programme, by appointment for its eligible clients -- a valued service, recorded on the seniors layer, and never upgraded here into a free open meal, because its own record does not describe one.
Common questions
What is free to do in Lakeshore?
Library programming at all four Essex County Library branches in town, the Town's parks concerts in summer, Stroll the Street and parade night in Belle River, and the shore itself at Lakeview Park and West Beach.
Are Lakeshore's recreation drop-ins free?
No -- and this page prints that plainly. The Municipality's published 2026 drop-in schedule listed fees ($5.10 and $6.10 by age band on the Jan 5 to Jun 14, 2026 schedule). Free swimming or skating days were not verified for the current season.
