Hiking and walking in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield: an island city's shore trails
Valleyfield's walking is water walking: an island-and-shore city stretched along Lac Saint-Francois, the old Beauharnois canal and the Baie Saint-Francois. The trails are shore paths, park circuits and canal-side routes rather than summits -- and the cycling layer beside them is serious: a regional network of some 170 km with cyclist river shuttles, per the town's getaway record.
the Parc Delpha-Sauve, downtown between the old Beauharnois canal and the Baie Saint-Francois -- the city's signature waterfront park, with its outdoor aquatic complex, baseball field, tennis courts, playgrounds and the Tour des regates -- and the Parc regional des Iles-de-Saint-Timothee, 240 rue Saint-Laurent, the city's regional park in the eastern Saint-Timothee sector: supervised sandy beach in season (closed for the season on October 7, 2026, per the Ville), boat rentals (pedalo, canoe, kayak, SUP), trails and picnic areas, with free access outside beach operation
The walks, at their real places
The islands park trails
The regional park's trail and picnic layer is the town's nature walk: shoreline paths on the Saint-Laurent's edge in the Saint-Timothee sector, with the beach (in season), boat rentals and the Grande marche's 2.5 and 5 km circuits (October 18, 2026, free) as its event form.
The Delpha-Sauve shore
The Delpha-Sauve park runs some 950 metres between the old Beauharnois canal and the baie: shore path, the Tour des regates, the aquatic complex and the festival ground in one walk -- the town's everyday promenade.
The MUSO's downtown walks
The MUSO runs guided downtown walks in summer through the old industrial core -- the mill-town layer on foot, from the museum's own programme. Check its surface for the season's departures.
The canal and cycling layer
The canal-side routes and the wider signed cycling network are the long-distance layer; Navark's shuttle carries cyclists across to Les Coteaux (outside town, as itself) inside that system. Distances here are the network's own published character -- no trail length is derived in this guide.
Honest limits
This is a shore-and-canal walking town, not a mountain town: no summit trail is claimed, no trail length or difficulty grade is printed that a host surface did not publish, and the beach operation's season rules (the beach closed October 7, 2026) govern the islands park's summer layer. Winter turns the same shores into the skating and slide layer at Delpha-Sauve.

Common questions
Where do you walk in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield?
The Parc regional des Iles-de-Saint-Timothee trails, the parc Delpha-Sauve shore between the old canal and the baie, the MUSO's guided downtown walks in summer, and the canal-side routes of the regional cycling network.
Are there mountains or summit hikes in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield?
No -- it is an island-and-shore city on Lac Saint-Francois. The walking is shoreline, park and canal-side, honestly labelled; the vertical layer is the Tour des regates, not a peak.
