Markets in Hunucmá: two buildings, one food market

Hunucmá is the sibling town that breaks the no-hours pattern: its food market publishes hours, so this page can finally print some — and its second market building is a bazar, which this page will not mislabel.

The food market: Mercado Municipal de Hunucmá

Shop the Mercado Municipal de Hunucmá (Calle 26A No. 15, Centro) — the town's working food market and a live anchor of these pages, trading daily: its place record publishes 05:00–15:00 every day, while a directory listing for the same market gives 06:00–15:00, and that one-hour opening variant is flagged wherever the hours print rather than silently resolved. Around it, the rhythm the press record supports: vendors setting out each morning, produce and prepared food at the centre of the trade, a fruit-and-vegetable washing area and a seafood vendor named in a 2020 locatario report, stock left overnight in crates on the west sidewalk in a 2021 one — a working centro de abasto, evidenced as such. Its daily occurrences are staged in Hunucmá's Dayfari events feed (Worker B's series, adapter hunucma_markets) — the first staged market series since Oxkutzcab in this crew's run, because Hunucmá, unlike its recent siblings, actually publishes a schedule. If the Ayuntamiento ever publishes its own hours, they supersede both listings in one step; until then the variant stays flagged, exactly as printed above.

The bazar: Mercado Eulogio Rosado

Two blocks away stands the Mercado Eulogio Rosado, the historic market building on the plaza whose façade carries the German public clock inaugurated in 1906 — long outgrown as the food market and today a bazar of shoe, clothing and artisan shops (daily 09:00–17:00 on its place record). The Ayuntamiento's Gaceta 83 (June 2026) authorised its rehabilitation for MXN 301,600 in FY2026 money — a refurbishment of the historic building, never a demolition, a closure or a second food market, and never to be confused with any other town's market rebuild. Go for the browse — shoes, clothing, artisan goods — and for the building itself, the plaza's 1906-clocked landmark. Do not go expecting the food market's stalls, and do not let any page (including a careless reading of this one) stage its 09:00–17:00 retail hours as a second daily food market: Worker B documented the building and staged nothing there, deliberately.

The feria market layer

In feria season a third, temporary market appears: the Expo Feria's exposition zone at the Explanada San Pool — artisan goods, gastronomy and footwear exhibited alongside the coronation and the magna vaquería (the 2015 shape, documented). Hunucmá's patronal feria honours a VISITING image: the Virgen de la Asunción de Tetiz, whose home is Tetiz and who is carried to Hunucmá each winter for a stay of about fifteen days of gremio acts, crowned in the parish church. The municipal Expo Feria is held in her honour at the Explanada San Pool — embajadora coronation, artisan, gastronomy and footwear exhibition, and a closing magna vaquería; a feria listing gave the 2026 edition as 4–9 February. The cycle's dates MOVE year to year with the pre-Lenten calendar, so no 2027 date is printed anywhere on these pages: the dated programme lives in Hunucmá's Dayfari events feed when the parish and Ayuntamiento announce it, and these pages describe the season. A second working market in Colonia Álvaro Obregón is press-attested (2020); it is the neighbourhood's market, documented here rather than listed as a visitor stop. Sisal's market, for the avoidance of doubt, is Sisal's own record — a different town's market in the same municipality, with no published hours, never merged with this page's.

Common questions

What are the Hunucmá market hours?

The food market (Calle 26A No. 15) publishes daily 05:00–15:00 on its place record; a directory listing gives 06:00–15:00 — the variant is flagged, not hidden. The Eulogio Rosado bazar's place record gives daily 09:00–17:00.

Is the Eulogio Rosado the food market?

No. It is the historic market building, today a shoe, clothing and artisan bazar, with an MXN 301,600 rehabilitation authorised for FY2026. The food market is the Mercado Municipal on Calle 26A.
