Classes in Mont-Laurier: free workshops, two studios and a whole education ladder
Few towns this size teach at every level: free art workshops, dance from age three, swim lessons, adult secondary, vocational trades, a cegep campus and a university campus. Here are the engines, with their grids left with their owners.
The teaching engines
the Centre d'exposition de Mont-Laurier, in the hotel de ville building at 300, boul. Albiny-Paquette -- the Hautes-Laurentides' visual-arts and metiers d'art exhibition centre, with rotating shows (a regional photographers' collective and a P'tit Train du Nord exhibition run in the autumn window) and the Ville's free atelier season: the Decouverte de l'art textile et visuel workshops are free for Mont-Laurier residents aged 14 and over, registration via Amilia -- pastel on Wednesday, October 14, vitrail on October 16, linogravure on October 17, kinusaiga on October 28, feutrage on November 6, fuseau on November 7, a Christmas-project couture atelier on November 11, crochet on November 25, macrame on November 27 and broderie on November 28, 2026
Mont-Laurier is a real college-and-university town, the inverse of a pure commuter town. The Centre collegial de Mont-Laurier (CCML), 700, rue Parent -- the Cegep de Saint-Jerome's Mont-Laurier campus, open since 1983 -- teaches DEC-level programmes including nursing, pre-hospital emergency care, special education and administration to roughly 300 students, an institutional figure printed as one. Beside it, the Universite du Quebec en Abitibi-Temiscamingue (UQAT) has been implanted in town since 2005 and inaugurated a new campus building adjacent to the CCML on August 28, 2025, with some 600 students published by the university across six study domains. Below them, the adult ladder is complete in town: the Centre Christ-Roi (545, rue du Pont) for formation generale des adultes, and the Centre de formation professionnelle (850, rue Tache) with 16 programmes

The free grid
Ten dated ateliers through October-November 2026, free for residents 14+, Amilia registration -- the town's classroom with no tuition.
The studios
Dance at two addresses: the full-discipline studio on Albiny-Paquette (from age 3) and the hip-hop specialist (from age 4), with competitive and recreational streams on their own surfaces.
The ladder
Adult general education at the Centre Christ-Roi (545, rue du Pont, distance-assisted included), 16 vocational programmes at the CFP (850, rue Tache), DEC programmes at the CCML and degrees at the UQAT campus.
The swim school
The Piscine municipale's Anim'eau and Recre'eau ladder is the town's other classroom: published autumn 2026 tariffs by level on the Ville's inscription surface, family discounts applying, registrations via Amilia. The programme census as a surface belongs to the Ville's recreation layer; this page names the door and sends the reader to the live grid.
What this page does not do
No class grid is copied here beyond the ateliers the Ville publishes as a season: schedules change by the term and belong to the studios, the centres and the campuses. A copied calendar would be wrong within the month, and this guide does not print wrong calendars.
Common questions
Where do you take a class in Mont-Laurier?
Start with the Centre d'exposition's free ateliers and the Bibliotheques' programmes, then the dance studios and the pool -- and for credentials, the Centre Christ-Roi, the CFP, the CCML or the UQAT campus, each on its own surface.
Are the exhibition-centre workshops really free?
Yes, on the Ville's own wording: the Decouverte de l'art textile et visuel activities are free for Mont-Laurier residents aged 14 and over, registration via Amilia.
Does Mont-Laurier have a college and a university?
Yes -- both, seated in town: the Centre collegial de Mont-Laurier (Cegep de Saint-Jerome campus, 700, rue Parent, since 1983) and the UQAT's Mont-Laurier campus (since 2005, new building inaugurated August 28, 2025).
