Kids in Mont-Laurier: storytime in the park, Lego at the library and a pool of their own

Mont-Laurier raises its kids on a two-branch library system, a municipal pool with a real children's ladder, and camps run by the Ville and the exhibition centre. Here is the children's town.

A library town, with children

the Bibliotheques municipales de Mont-Laurier -- the Ville's OWN two-branch system (bibliothecaire Sophie Monette; the system's surface is biblio.villemontlaurier.qc.ca): the Bibliotheque de Mont-Laurier at 385, rue du Pont downtown (poste 750), where a new two-storey building is the Ville's published library project, and the Bibliotheque Des Ruisseaux at 1269, boul. des Ruisseaux (poste 753), the branch of the in-town Des Ruisseaux sector. Its programme year is the town's family engine: l'Heure du conte for ages 2 to 5 (in the parks June to October -- Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 15 h, at the parc Ernest-Leonard), Bebe-Melodies and Bebe-contes at the Des Ruisseaux branch, a monthly Club de Lego for ages 5 to 12, and the Semaine des bibliotheques publiques from Saturday, October 17 to Saturday, October 24, 2026

the Piscine municipale, 795, rue Alix, beside the arena at the pole sportif -- the Ville's pool, running its autumn 2026 session from October 3 to December 11, 2026: Anim'eau and Recre'eau children's programmes, adult swimming and aquaforme, with registrations through the Ville's Amilia store. The pole sportif around it carries the splash pad (jeux d'eau, daily in the summer season), soccer, ball, tennis, basketball and pickleball plateaux The autumn 2026 tariff grid for the children's programmes is published on the Ville's inscription surface (Anim'eau and Recre'eau by level, residents and non-residents priced, family discounts on one invoice) -- read the current session there.

The children's anchors

The programmes

Bibliotheques, two branches

L'Heure du conte (2-5), Bebe-Melodies and Bebe-contes for the smallest, the Club de Lego (5-12) monthly -- free activities across both branches, so no family crosses the whole town for a programme.

The camps

Ville camp de jour + arts camps

The Ville's camp de jour takes children 4 to 12 in the summer window on its own news surface (rates and the Amilia registration there; the item's year is confirmed at deploy). The Centre d'exposition's arts day camps (ages 7-12) ran two four-day weeks in July 2026, both full, 250 $ a week on the operator's page.

The costume day

Marché d'automne, October 3, 2026

The autumn market carries the town's Halloween for children: a costume contest and candy for costumed children at the parc Toussaint-Lachapelle -- past at build, and the pattern for next October.

The outdoor ladder

The town's green ladder is graded kindly: the jeux d'eau at the pole sportif and the parc Rosina-Aubin for the smallest, the Lac des Sources beach in summer, the parks for picnics, the P'tit Train du Nord's flat grade for first bikes, and Le Renouveau's woods for older children. The Diable's summits are a Ferme-Neuve getaway for later years -- labelled, never borrowed.

The school layer

Seven CSSHL primaries in town (de la Carriere, de la Madone, de Saint-Joachim, de Saint-Jean-l'Evangéliste, Jean-XXIII, du Sacre-Coeur, Saint-Eugene on the board's own lists) anchor the school year; their public life rides newsletters and the Ville calendar. The same board lists seat other schools in Ferme-Neuve, Lac-des-Ecorces and the other neighbours -- those are those towns' schools, never printed as this town's.

Common questions

What is there for kids in Mont-Laurier?

Library programmes in two branches (storytime, baby programmes, Lego club), children's swim programmes at the Piscine municipale, the Ville camp de jour and the exhibition centre's arts camps in summer, the Marché d'automne's costume contest, and the parks and beach.

Are there storytimes in Mont-Laurier?

Yes -- l'Heure du conte runs at the Bibliotheques (in the parks June to October: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 15 h, parc Ernest-Leonard), with Bebe-Melodies and Bebe-contes at the Des Ruisseaux branch. The current grid lives on the biblio site and the Ville calendar.

Does Mont-Laurier have day camps?

Two documented forms: the Ville's camp de jour (ages 4-12, Amilia registration) and the Centre d'exposition's specialized arts day camps (ages 7-12; July 6-9 and July 13-16, 2026, both marked full on the operator's page).
