Winter
Winter in Mont-Laurier: hockey season, pool season and the long Laurentides dark
Winter is this town's working season: the new hockey team fills the arena, the pool runs its session, the libraries programme through the dark -- and the region's big ski mountain waits one town north, labelled as the getaway it is.
The cold season at full size
the Centre sportif Jacques-Lesage, 801, rue Alix -- the Ville's arena and sports centre, home ice of the Draveurs de Mont-Laurier, the town's brand-new senior elite (LHSE) franchise, and of the Association du hockey mineur de Mont-Laurier et Ferme-Neuve. The Draveurs played their first-ever official matches in September 2026 and their home opener on Saturday, September 26, 2026 -- an 8-3 win before a crowd reported above 1,200. The league's own programme seats the Vikings de Sainte-Martine at the Draveurs on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 19 h 30 -- tomorrow, at this guide's build. The minor-hockey association's name spans two towns by design: fixtures seated in Ferme-Neuve are Ferme-Neuve's, and only Jacques-Lesage fixtures are ever Mont-Laurier's
the Piscine municipale, 795, rue Alix, beside the arena at the pole sportif -- the Ville's pool, running its autumn 2026 session from October 3 to December 11, 2026: Anim'eau and Recre'eau children's programmes, adult swimming and aquaforme, with registrations through the Ville's Amilia store. The pole sportif around it carries the splash pad (jeux d'eau, daily in the summer season), soccer, ball, tennis, basketball and pickleball plateaux Between them, the Alix pole carries the winter week: the Ville publishes patin et hockey libre schedules at the arena for the season (resident tariffs on its own page -- adults 5,65 $, enfants-etudiants-aines 4,78 $, under six free, in the published grid), and registrations for both buildings ride the Ville's Amilia store.
The winter forms, carded
The game
Senior elite hockey in its first season: a new franchise, a reported 1,200-plus crowd at the September home opener, and a full winter of home dates read from the league's own schedule surface.
The swim
The autumn session runs October 3 to December 11, 2026: children's Anim'eau and Recre'eau, adult swimming and aquaforme, in the warm building next door to the arena.
The trail
The linear park's Mont-Laurier segment is the town's winter walking and snowshoe spine -- the old railway through the Lievre valley, flat, signed and close to home.
The mountain, labelled honestly
The Hautes-Laurentides' marquee winter terrain -- the Parc regional Montagne du Diable, four summits up to 783 m -- is seated in FERME-NEUVE, outside town, and this guide never prints it as a Mont-Laurier facility. It is the town's great winter GETAWAY: the park's accueil is a short run of 14 km straight-line (computed), about 18 km by road and 20 minutes' estimated driving from the hotel de ville, planned and booked with the park, in Ferme-Neuve's name. Mont-Laurier's own winter offer is municipal and honest: the arena, the pool, the corridor trail and the parcs' skating surfaces on the Ville's surfaces.
What winter here is not
There is no curling club seated in Mont-Laurier on the federation's roster, the Ville's ice surfaces or any directory reached -- the nearest federation club, Vallée de la Rouge, is Rivière-Rouge's record, named as access reality only. And there is no downhill ski hill in town: the Diable's slopes are Ferme-Neuve's, and Mont-Tremblant's resort is Mont-Tremblant's -- both reached as trips, in their own names.
Common questions
Where do the Draveurs play?
At the Centre sportif Jacques-Lesage, 801, rue Alix -- the Ville's arena. The Draveurs de Mont-Laurier are a new LHSE senior elite franchise in 2026-27; their home opener was Saturday, September 26, 2026, and the league programme seats Sainte-Martine here on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 19 h 30.
Can you swim in Mont-Laurier in winter?
Yes -- the Piscine municipale (795, rue Alix) runs its autumn session October 3 to December 11, 2026, with children's programmes, adult swimming and aquaforme. Registrations run through the Ville's Amilia store.
Is Montagne du Diable in Mont-Laurier?
No. The Parc regional Montagne du Diable is seated in Ferme-Neuve, the neighbouring municipality north of town. From Mont-Laurier it is a labelled getaway, planned with the park -- never an in-town facility.
