Events in King Township

King's event year runs on a short, strong spine: one of Ontario's old agricultural fairs in late May, a township food-and-drink festival in June, a Victoria Day parade in Nobleton, scarecrows in October and a Christmas night in Schomberg that ends with tractors wearing lights. This page grades what it prints. The Schomberg Fair's 2026 edition is recorded from the society's own published calendar. The other anchors are annual fixtures whose next editions have not been dated on the surfaces reached when this guide was built — they are listed as annual fixtures with their last verified shape, never with an invented date. Nothing here is derived from a pattern.

Photos for King Township are still on their way. Every listing below is real.

The verified 2026 record — the Schomberg Fair

The 176th Schomberg Agricultural Spring Fair ran Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Schomberg Fairgrounds, 319 Main Street, Schomberg — the Schomberg Agricultural Society's own calendar is the record. Theme: “Hay Bales & Cow Tails”. Friday opened at 5 p.m. with the midway and beer tent, and the fair's signature event, the demolition derby, ran Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday opened at 9 a.m.; the grand parade rolled down Main Street at 11 a.m., opening ceremonies followed at noon, and the day ran through vendors, the Homecraft Hall, a children's pedal pull, cowboy mounted shooting, a rodeo demonstration and evening tribute concerts. Livestock shows, homecraft competitions and the midway carried Sunday. The society — more than 150 members, fairgrounds owned and operated by the society itself — calls the fair a 176-year tradition and, accurately, the largest event in King Township. Its 2027 dates are the society's to publish; watch schombergfair.com in the new year, when the fair book typically appears.

Annual fixtures — real, recurring, and not yet dated for their next edition

King City's food-and-drink festival, Memorial Park, 25 Doctors Lane. The township's biggest King City day: craft breweries and cideries, a row of food trucks, a kids' zone and two stages of live music, noon to 9 p.m. on a June Saturday. It grew up as the King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival and broadened its menu and its name — King Food & Drink Fest — for its tenth-anniversary edition on Saturday, June 8, 2024, the last edition this guide verified end to end, with gate prices published for music and beverage passes. A 2026 date was not published on the surfaces reached at build; the Township (king.ca) announces it in spring.

Nobleton Victoria Day Parade. Nobleton marks Victoria Day with a parade through the village — the Township's own parade application put the 2025 edition on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11 a.m., with floats, tractors and marching groups entering by application. The 2026 edition's paperwork was not on the surfaces reached at build; expect the Township to post the form in spring, and do not take any specific 2026 date from a directory listing.

Schomberg Scarecrows (October) and A Main Street Christmas (early December). Every October, Schomberg's scarecrow contest fills Main Street with homemade figures for the month — a standing seasonal display, not a single-day event. A Main Street Christmas is one evening: shops open, carolers and street entertainers, roasted chestnuts and hot cider, a Santa Claus parade in the afternoon, and the Farmers' Parade of Lights to close — dozens of pieces of farm machinery, decorated with Christmas lights, driving Main Street with Santa on the largest machine. The last verified edition ran Saturday, December 6, 2025, roughly 3 to 8:30 p.m. on the regional tourism record; the 2026 date belongs to the Schomberg Village Association and was unpublished at build.

The standing programme layer

Under the anchors runs the township's weekly fabric, run from the facilities named on the city page: Township recreation programming at the Zancor Centre, the Trisan Centre and the Laceby Centre; library programmes across the four King Township Public Library branches; museum and gallery programming at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre, including Art Society King's shows and studio events; and outdoor education days at Cold Creek, where Township calendars of past years have placed a Family Day winter festival and a March maple syrup festival — recorded here as the property's tradition, not as dated future editions. The Township's community calendar (king.ca) is the surface that dates these, week by week; this guide does not lift a past year's calendar entry into the future and call it a listing.

What is not listed, and why

No King Township event appears on this page with a date taken from a third-party events directory alone, and none is carried over from a neighbouring town's calendar: the fairs, festivals and parades of Vaughan, Aurora, Newmarket, Caledon and Bradford West Gwillimbury are those towns' records, and several directories geocode them into King. If a King fixture you expected is missing, the likeliest reason is that its organiser has not published the edition yet — the gap is stated rather than filled.

Common questions

When is the Schomberg Fair?

Late May. The 176th edition ran May 29–31, 2026 — gates Friday 5 p.m., demolition derby Friday 7 p.m., parade Saturday 11 a.m. — at the Schomberg Fairgrounds, 319 Main Street. The society publishes each year's dates and fair book on its own site.

What is the biggest event in King Township?

The Schomberg Fair, by the Agricultural Society's own account and by any crowd measure — a three-day spring fair with a demolition derby, a Main Street parade, livestock shows and a midway.

When is A Main Street Christmas in Schomberg?

Early December, one evening. The last verified edition was Saturday, December 6, 2025; the 2026 date had not been published when this guide was built. The night ends with the Farmers' Parade of Lights — farm machinery strung with Christmas lights on Main Street.

Is there a craft beer festival in King City?

Yes — the township's June food-and-drink festival at Memorial Park (25 Doctors Lane), long known as the King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival. The last edition verified here ran June 8, 2024; check king.ca in spring for the current year's date and tickets.
