Things to do at night in King: the honest evening menu

Things to do at night in King: the honest evening menu

A King evening is chosen, not stumbled into -- the township is dark, rural and quiet by design after its rooms close. The menu below is the real one: a pub with music, a historic inn, a hockey game, a curling night, a library programme that runs into the evening, and, on the right October night, a forest. It is short because the township is honest, and every item on it is real.

King's evening rooms are village rooms. The Schomberg Pub & Patio, 226 Main Street in Schomberg, is a gastropub in a historic house on the village's main street, with a patio beside the creek and live music on its own published entertainment listings. In King City, Hogan's Inn at 12998 Keele Street -- an inn with more than 150 years of history on its own account -- keeps the Hunt Pub, which the venue describes as hosting live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Neither is a strip or a district; they are two rooms in two villages, and that is the honest shape of a King night out.

Game night

Rebellion or Cougars, depending on the village

King's signature team is the King Rebellion of the Ontario Junior Hockey League -- Junior A hockey at the Zancor Centre in King City, where the Township's own opening release names the centre's rink as the Rebellion's home. The club relocated to King for the 2024-25 season and is current in 2026-27. No fixture is printed in this guide: home dates are read on the OJHL's official schedule, never derived from standings or aggregator surfaces. One tier down, the Schomberg Cougars play at the Trisan Centre, above a three-village minor-hockey system across the Trisan, Nobleton and Zancor rinks.

An evening class or talk

Library branches and the Heritage & Cultural Centre

the King Township Public Library, a four-branch system spread the way the township is spread: King City at 1970 King Road, Nobleton at 8 Sheardown Drive, Schomberg at 77 Main Street, and a 24/7 self-service branch at Ansnorveldt, 18997 Dufferin Street, plus a book kiosk at the Trisan Centre. A library card here reaches further than books: the system's Experience Passes lend an Ontario Parks day-use permit and admission passes for named Toronto attractions, first-come at the branches, on the library's own published terms. Evening programmes ride the library's and the Township's calendars -- astronomy and nature evenings at Cold Creek are a recurring Township shape, with a Forest Bathing session on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 as recent canon.

A night hike, on the one night it is offered

Guided, Township-led, dated

King's trail ground is moraine ground. Cold Creek Conservation Area, at 14125 11th Concession near Nobleton, is the Township-run conservation area: forest, wetland and swamp trails for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, an education centre, and dated Township programming -- a Forest Bathing session on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 is recent canon, and a Survivor's Den shelter-building programme for youth ages 8-18 is dated Saturday, October 10, 2026. Thornton Bales Conservation Area, near King City, is famed for its "99 Steps" and a roughly 4.5-kilometre loop through ravines with a greater change in elevation than the drop over Niagara Falls, on the conservation authority's own description. Happy Valley Forest is a large mature forest on the moraine, an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest and home to the Jefferson salamander -- the Township's own calendar dates a Guided Fall Forest Hike there for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The Oak Ridges Trail crosses the township, and the Township itself counts more than 100 kilometres of trails in King. No trail distance beyond the Thornton Bales loop is printed: no operator surface read settles the others, so they are described, not measured.

And the screen that is not here

King Township has NO operating cinema seated inside it -- printed at full strength, once, so no page of this guide dresses an evening around a screen that does not exist here. What King has instead is the occasional community movie night: the Township's own calendar carried a free Movie under the Stars in Schomberg on Saturday, October 3, 2026, hosted by a local dental practice -- a one-night community screening, past at this build, not a cinema and not a series. The multiplexes that showtimes pages attach to a King search are seated in Vaughan, Aurora and Richmond Hill; they are those cities' screens, labelled as outside places on the day-trips pages of this guide, never as King's.

The drive-to-the-movies version of a King night is a day-trip in miniature: Vaughan, Aurora and Richmond Hill hold the screens, labelled as theirs, at the adjudicated distances on this guide's day-trips pages. Day-trip road distances in this guide are one adjudicated set, measured from King City -- the township's largest community, because King has no single centre -- and used consistently on every page: Toronto (downtown) 37 kilometres, Vaughan 12 kilometres, Richmond Hill 14.4 kilometres, Newmarket 18.2 kilometres. Destinations outside that adjudicated set carry no printed figure at all, rather than a second, softer number.

Common questions

What is there to do at night in King Township?

A pub night with live music in Schomberg or King City, a King Rebellion or Schomberg Cougars game, a curling league night at the Trisan Centre, an evening library or heritage-centre programme, or a guided Township night programme at Cold Creek when one is dated. There is no cinema in the township.
