Kids' activities in King: farm animals, a survival den, splash-and-skate centres
King raises its kids outdoors and on ice, and its family layer shows it: working farms that invite families in, a conservation area running shelter-building for 8-to-18s, twin-pad arenas, leisure pools, and a fair whose midway weekend is the township's family holiday. Dated where the operators date it, honest where they do not.
King's farm-gate layer is the working side of the township: Pine Farms Orchard, 2700 16th Sideroad in King City -- a family orchard of more than 50 years on the Oak Ridges Moraine, with dwarf trees, a farm shop, bakery and cafe in a renovated barn; Round The Bend Farm, 16225 Jane Street in Kettleby -- a small working family farm in continuous operation since 1986, selling seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers, turkeys for the holidays, and running a farm market and fall corn maze on its own published terms; and JC Agri's Royal Orchards, 3105 16th Sideroad in King City, an apple orchard with a market store in season. Hours and picking conditions change with the crop -- read each farm's own surface before driving.

Cold Creek programmes
King's trail ground is moraine ground. Cold Creek Conservation Area, at 14125 11th Concession near Nobleton, is the Township-run conservation area: forest, wetland and swamp trails for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, an education centre, and dated Township programming -- a Forest Bathing session on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 is recent canon, and a Survivor's Den shelter-building programme for youth ages 8-18 is dated Saturday, October 10, 2026. Thornton Bales Conservation Area, near King City, is famed for its "99 Steps" and a roughly 4.5-kilometre loop through ravines with a greater change in elevation than the drop over Niagara Falls, on the conservation authority's own description. Happy Valley Forest is a large mature forest on the moraine, an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest and home to the Jefferson salamander -- the Township's own calendar dates a Guided Fall Forest Hike there for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The Oak Ridges Trail crosses the township, and the Township itself counts more than 100 kilometres of trails in King. No trail distance beyond the Thornton Bales loop is printed: no operator surface read settles the others, so they are described, not measured.
Pools and pads for small skaters
the Zancor Centre, 1600 15th Sideroad in King City -- the Township's new anchor recreation centre, built on land leased from Seneca Polytechnic's King Campus and billed as Canada's first zero-carbon combined aquatics and ice-sports facility. It carries twin ice pads, a six-lane pool and a leisure pool, and a fieldhouse. Drop-in programming began Saturday, January 4, 2025 and the official opening was Sunday, January 26, 2025. It is the home rink of the King Rebellion (below). the Trisan Centre, 25 Dillane Drive in Schomberg -- the township's western recreation hub, inaugurated June 27, 2011. Under one roof: a 600-seat arena that is home to the Schomberg Cougars junior hockey club and Schomberg minor hockey, a fitness centre with an indoor track, and the four-sheet curling rink of the King Curling Club (below). The library keeps a book kiosk here, too -- in King, even the arena has a library corner.
The fair, for next spring's calendar
the Schomberg Fair, run by the Schomberg Agricultural Society at the fairgrounds in the heart of downtown Schomberg, beside the river on Main Street -- the largest event in King Township on the society's own description, and a spring fair, not a fall one. Its 2026 edition, the 176th, ran Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31, 2026: gates opened at 5 p.m. Friday ahead of the demolition derby, the fair's most popular event; Saturday carried the grand parade on Main Street, the midway, homecraft hall and livestock shows. The edition's theme, as the society's own About and fair-dates pages and the Township's council summary carry it, was "Hay Bales & Cow Tails." Two conflicts ride the record flagged, never merged: a second theme line circulates on one society page, and the society's surfaces carry two differing admission grids -- so no admission figure prints in this guide; read gate prices on the society's own surface. The 2026 edition is past at this build -- no 2027 date is derived here; the society publishes its own fair book and dates each winter. Its Saturday pattern is the family one on the society's own schedule: the parade at 11 a.m., the midway, homecraft hall, children's pedal pull and clown shows through the afternoon of the 2026 edition -- past, and printed as the shape of the day, never as a booking.
Library programmes for children
the King Township Public Library, a four-branch system spread the way the township is spread: King City at 1970 King Road, Nobleton at 8 Sheardown Drive, Schomberg at 77 Main Street, and a 24/7 self-service branch at Ansnorveldt, 18997 Dufferin Street, plus a book kiosk at the Trisan Centre. A library card here reaches further than books: the system's Experience Passes lend an Ontario Parks day-use permit and admission passes for named Toronto attractions, first-come at the branches, on the library's own published terms.
Camps and classes: the documented layer only
Township camps and children's classes run through the Township's recreation registration and the library's programme guides -- the surfaces exist and are current in substance, and dated instances ride those surfaces and the Township calendar. This guide does not print a camp fee or a registration date it has not read on the operator's own current page: the settler is the Township's next recreation guide, and families should register from it directly. The one dated children's anchor in this record is the Cold Creek programme above and the fair's family day in spring.
