Brunch in Kenmare
Brunch isn’t really a Kenmare institution — it’s a breakfast-and-lunch town, and the pubs and cafes do those very well. Here’s the honest picture: where a slow mid-morning meal actually happens, and where you’re better off just having lunch early.
The honest answer
Kenmare doesn’t have a dedicated brunch scene the way a city does — no queues for eggs Benedict, no bottomless anything. What it has is better: pubs that do a serious Irish breakfast, cafes that do pastries and good coffee, and hotels that feed non-residents well in the morning.
Davitt’s in the middle of town does lunch from midday and is the family-friendly fallback; the pub kitchens (McCarthy’s, Foley’s) cover the cooked-breakfast end. For the cafe version — coffee, pastry, sit in the window and watch The Square wake up — try Maison Gourmet or Poffs on New Road.
The hotel-breakfast play
The Park Hotel’s breakfast is famous in its own right (cooked-to-order full Irish, fresh fish, the works), and the Kenmare Bay Hotel does a solid hotel breakfast too. If your B&B does a proper fry-up — many do — you don’t need brunch; you need a walk afterwards. Try the bay walk.
