Coffee shops in Kenmare
Kenmare runs on tea and Guinness more than flat whites, but the cafe scene has quietly caught up. A handful of proper coffee spots sit among the pubs and bistros — enough for your morning fix, none of them pretending to be Shoreditch.
Where the coffee is
Maison Gourmet took over the old Jam bakery premises and does the cafe thing well — good coffee, pastries, a sit-down room. Poffs on New Road (formerly The Breadcrumb) is the other name locals mention. The wanderlog crowd also lists Simply Cafe, Benedict’s Cafe and O’Neill Coffee among the town’s options — check hours before you go, as small-town cafes keep small-town hours.
And the sleeper pick: the hotel lounges. The Park Hotel and the Lansdowne both do a civilised coffee in surroundings that beat any cafe interior in town.
The tea-room exception
At Gleninchaquin Park, the little tea room at the farm is part of the ritual: walk the waterfall valley, come back down, have tea. It’s the best cup of tea within twenty kilometres of Kenmare, and it isn’t close.
