Classes & guided trips in Clearwater
No studios, no academies -- the river and the park are the curriculum, and the guides are the faculty.
Classes in Clearwater: the outdoors is the classroom
There is no cooking school, no pottery studio with a booking page, no language academy -- Clearwater teaches rivers, forests and snow instead, through some of the most experienced guides in BC. Everything on this page is a real, bookable way to learn a skill here.
Bookable learning
Guided hiking with interpretation
The park, explained: geology, volcanoes, bears and wildflowers on foot with guides who have run these trails for decades. Their 'Essentials' half and full days are the fastest education in Wells Gray available; multi-day canoe and hiking trips go deeper.
Interpretive walks with Discover Wells Gray
Naturalist-led hiking with transport from town meeting points -- a gentler, story-first way into the park, good for first-timers and photographers.
Whitewater skills
Clearwater's rafting companies are also its paddle schools: Liquid Lifestyles has run rafting and kayaking here for 20+ years, and the raft trips themselves are half instruction by design. The Clearwater Kayak Festival is the community's annual celebration of the river.
Guided canoe days on the big lakes
A guided paddle-and-hike day from the end of the corridor (minimum four, lunch included) -- the supervised first step toward the Clearwater/Azure canoe route.
Snow skills in winter
The community ski hill's lodge handles rentals for first days on snow, Candle Creek's groomed trails teach classic and skate technique by osmosis, and local winter guides run snowshoe and backcountry days. Ask at the Information Centre for who is guiding this season.
What does not exist (yet)
No standing arts, cooking or fitness class scene operates in Clearwater as of November 2026 -- the community centre runs seasonal programming, and the Information Centre (250-674-3334) is the honest source for what is on this month. The valley's curriculum is the river and the park; the guides above are its faculty.
