Date ideas

Dates in Clearview: walk the bluffs, then let a village hall do the evening

A Clearview date assembles like the township does: something wild in the afternoon, something warm in the evening, and a short dark drive between them. Here are the combinations that work.

The arc of a Clearview date

the escarpment in brief: Devil's Glen Provincial Park (Ontario Parks) for the Mad River valley and Bruce Trail; Nottawasaga Bluffs (NVCA) for crevice caves, the Keyhole Trail and 400 acres of brow forest; the Nottawasaga Lookout for the view. That is the afternoon half of the township's best date. The evening half is a hall: the Small Halls Festival's concert nights run September 18 to November 7 in 2026, each in a different village hall, each with the drive there as part of the occasion.

The pattern is deliberate: Clearview rewards pairs who plan in two movements -- outdoors first, indoors after -- because that is how the township itself is built.

The date, in three movements

The classic

Bluffs walk + hall concert

The Keyhole Trail and the lookout views at the Nottawasaga Bluffs in the afternoon; dinner in Stayner; a Small Halls concert in Avening, Dunedin or Singhampton at night. The township's signature date, autumn form.

The summer one

Market evening + EcoPark stroll

Thursday at Station Park: market food, classic cars, gazebo music and the licensed area, then the Clearview EcoPark's pond loop as the light goes. No tickets, no reservations, no pressure.

The fair one

GNE weekend, September

A day at the Great Northern Exhibition -- midway, livestock barns, grandstand -- is the township's loudest date: September 25 to 27 in 2026, gates at 9 a.m., at the Stayner fairgrounds.

The winter date

Sunnidale Winterama, in New Lowell, is the winter counterweight: the township's longest-running festival, running since the mid-1970s on the township's account, with the 51st edition held February 6 to 8, 2026 -- fireworks at New Lowell Recreation Park on the Friday, a Saturday parade through the village streets, and a two-dollar collector button as the price of the weekend, on the township's Discover Clearview surfaces at discoverclearview.ca. Fireworks on the Friday, the parade on Saturday and a ski day at Highlands Nordic on the brow make a February weekend that needs no city at all. In deep winter the simpler form also works: a Siskins game at the arena and a pub table after -- Stayner's two-room evening.

The Creemore afternoon, cross-linked

One community needs its boundary stated once, plainly: Creemore, in the township's south-east, is also a Dayfari town in its own right, with its own guide, its own market, brewery and festival records. This guide cross-links to Creemore's own pages where a Clearview loop naturally passes through the village -- and never re-prints Creemore's records as Clearview's. The village is a stop on the loop; its story lives on Creemore's own pages. As a date, the village is the afternoon half -- its own guide carries its streets and tables -- and the drive back over the escarpment shoulder at dusk is the township at its prettiest.

Common questions

What is a good first date in Clearview?

The Thursday market evening at Station Park in summer: food, music, cars and people, with the EcoPark walk if it is going well and an easy end if it is not. In autumn, a Small Halls concert -- a real programme, a warm hall, a shared drive.

What is a romantic walk in Clearview?

The Nottawasaga Bluffs' lookout trails for the view, Devil's Glen for the river valley, and the EcoPark pond loop in Stayner for the gentle version. The escarpment walks are rugged in places -- read the operators' trail notes first.

What is there for a date in winter?

Winterama's fireworks Friday, a Highlands Nordic ski day at Duntroon, or a Siskins game plus a pub dinner in Stayner. The township's winter date is active, not candlelit -- dress for it.
