Airport guide

Flying to Clearview: two small fields of its own, Collingwood's airport up the highway, and Pearson at the end of the 400

Clearview has no commercial airport -- and two small aerodromes of its own, a larger field in the next town, and a world gateway down the highway. Each gets its full treatment here, at its own seat and its true size.

The settlement first: no commercial airport -- and two small fields of its own

Start with the correction, because precision is the premium standard here: an early shorthand for this township said no airport sits in Clearview, and Worker F's T50 settlement in this build corrects it. Clearview has no COMMERCIAL airport -- no airline has ever sold a seat into this township -- but it is not airfield-free. Two small general-aviation aerodromes sit inside the township: Edenvale and Stayner (Clearview Field), both carded in the next section. The larger local field, Collingwood Regional (CNY3), is seated in Collingwood and is never printed as a Clearview airport. And the scheduled gateway is Toronto Pearson. Each gets its treatment below at its own seat and its true strength -- for a township of 14,814 (Statistics Canada, 2021 Census, settled in the township's identity record) spread over eleven communities, that layered picture is the genuinely useful one.

The records are the flight supplement via reference surfaces, the county's airport comparison and the border directory: the published CNY3 record carries the Collingwood field's position and elevation, and Worker F's settlement in tiers-F.json carries the in-town fields' supplement facts. Everything printed here is read against them.

The township's own fields: Edenvale and Stayner (Clearview Field)

Edenvale Aerodrome (CNV8)

5195 Highway 26 East, Stayner -- in-township

The township's substantial field, 10.0 km straight-line (computed), about 14 km by road and 15 minutes' estimated driving from the Administration Centre: a registered aerodrome on the flight-supplement record with three runways -- 13/31 at 3,936 feet of asphalt, 08/26 at 3,014 feet of asphalt, and 17/35 at 1,900 feet of turf -- at 718 feet elevation, operated by Edenvale A/D as a flight-training and flying-club field (edenflight.com), on a historic wartime relief-field site. It hosts the Gathering of the Classics each August (this build's slice C record). No scheduled passenger service of any kind operates here -- its product is training, club flying and the classic-aircraft community.

Stayner (Clearview Field) Aerodrome (CLV2)

Stayner -- in-township

The township's second field on Worker F's settlement: a small general-aviation aerodrome at Stayner, printed at that strength -- a local strip for local flying, with no scheduled service, no terminal product and no facts inflated beyond the settlement. Its supplement record governs its details at the live pass.

Creemore Aerodrome (CCR9)

Creemore village -- cross-reference only

A third field sits in Creemore village, inside this township -- and it is Creemore's own built record, cross-referenced here and never re-staged, under the same boundary ruling that governs every Creemore record in this build.

Collingwood Regional (CNY3), in numbers

The runways

Asphalt 5,000 x 100 ft + a grass second runway

A main paved runway of 5,000 by 100 feet (13/31) on the County of Simcoe's published airport comparison, with a second grass runway (01/19, 2,548 feet) on the flight-supplement excerpt Worker F carries, at 730 feet elevation on the aerodrome record -- a real all-weather GA field, privately operated. This is the working airport of the Collingwood-Clearview shore country.

The border

Airport of Entry / 15

The CBSA directory carries Collingwood Regional as an Airport of Entry rated for 15 -- the arrangement that lets eligible private and charter arrivals clear into Canada here in small numbers, with the CBSA office hours published as weekday daytime (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5) on the directory. Terms live with the CBSA and the operator.

The use

GA, charter, training, medevac

No scheduled carrier publishes service to CNY3 at any date, and none is asserted: the field's work is private flying, charter, flight training and air-ambulance support for the region. Its passenger product is the charter seat, booked with an operator, never a timetable.

The drive

Fifteen minutes up Highway 26

From Stayner the field is a straight Highway 26 run toward Collingwood -- 6.5 km straight-line (computed), about 9 km by road and 10 minutes' estimated driving from the township office. Ground terms, parking and handling live with the airport operator.

The larger regional field: Lake Simcoe Regional, at its own seat

When the region needs length, hangars and full services, it uses Lake Simcoe Regional Airport (CYLS) -- 42.9 km straight-line (computed), about 58 km by road and 55 minutes' estimated driving from Stayner, east past Barrie in Oro-Medonte, at its own seat, on the airport's own site. The county comparison gives it the region's heavy runway -- 6,001 by 100 feet of asphalt, a 590-acre site -- and its own surfaces publish the rest: customs available 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the year, a large heated hangar, fuel, catering, and pilot and passenger lounges. It is jointly the Barrie-Orillia airport, the corporate alternative to Pearson's slot-controlled ramps, and the field a Clearview business flight is most likely to actually use.

No scheduled passenger service is asserted for CYLS either: no carrier surface reached publishes one, so this page prints the field at its true strength -- the region's full-service, customs-capable airport for charter, corporate and private flying -- and leaves the airline seat to Pearson, where it actually exists.

The real gateway: Toronto Pearson, and how this township actually flies

For a scheduled flight, Clearview flies from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) -- 90.3 km straight-line (computed), about 122 km by road and 120 minutes' estimated driving from Stayner, a drive the road makes via Highway 26 to Barrie and Highway 400 south to the 400-series. That is the settled pattern of this whole escarpment country: Pearson's global network at one end, a Simcoe County highway at the other, and the traveller's real decisions are the ground leg and the buffer. In winter the buffer is not a nicety: lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay can close the county's roads, and a Pearson departure in a January storm week is planned the night before, on Ontario 511, or not at all.

The ground options, honestly graded: the drive itself, which most of the township does, parking at Pearson on the airport's own terms; a pre-booked private transfer or taxi, priced by its operator at booking (no fare is printed here, because no operator surface reached publishes one for the Stayner run); and public transit in legs -- Simcoe County LINX Route 2 stops in Stayner at the Administration Centre (stop 260 on the operator's route material, carried in Worker F's adjudication) and links the township to Wasaga Beach and Barrie, with onward services read with their operators, because no direct scheduled coach from Stayner to Pearson is verified on the surfaces reached, and this guide will not invent one. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) is the genuine alternative gateway in the same road class, on Worker F's carried adjudication -- downtown Toronto's field, chosen for the city end, not the time.

The layover question, answered straight

There is no layover product for Clearview, and this page prints that as a finding, not an apology. A layover excursion needs a hub's spare hours; what this township has is a destination at the end of a ground leg from Pearson. Nobody connects through Collingwood or Oro-Medonte. The Pearson relationship runs the other way: Clearview is a pre-trip or post-trip stay for a Pearson journey -- you land, you drive north out of the city, and the escarpment is the reward at the end of the highway. Travellers who try to squeeze the bluffs into a connection window misunderstand both the distance and the place; this guide's itineraries give it the days it deserves.

Sleeping near the run: the township's own beds

There is no airport hotel at CNY3 or CYLS, and none is claimed -- each field is minutes from its own town's inns (Collingwood's for the one, Barrie's and Oro-Medonte's for the other), which are those towns' beds, in their names. For a Pearson early departure, the settled local pattern is the drive down the night before or a very early start, each read with its operator; this guide invents no rates and no shuttle promises.

How the distances on this page are made: the origin is the Township Administration Centre, 217 Gideon Street, Stayner (44.418628, -80.088323 -- the registry point settled in the township's identity record), and each airport is taken at its own published coordinates. The straight-line figure is the great-circle (haversine) distance, computed in this guide's generator; the road estimate multiplies it by 1.35 and the driving time divides by a 62 km/h average, rounded to five minutes. These are planning orders of magnitude -- the day's route is read on the road, on Highways 26 and 400 and Ontario 511.

Common questions

What is the closest airport to Clearview?

The township's own Edenvale Aerodrome (CNV8), 10.0 km straight-line (computed), about 14 km by road and 15 minutes' estimated driving from the township office in Stayner -- a general-aviation field with no scheduled service. Stayner (Clearview Field) (CLV2) is the township's second small field. The larger local field is Collingwood Regional (CNY3) in Collingwood, the regional field is Lake Simcoe Regional (CYLS) in Oro-Medonte, and the scheduled gateway is Toronto Pearson (YYZ).

Are there flights from Edenvale or Collingwood Regional?

No scheduled flights of any kind from either. Edenvale (CNV8) is a flight-training and flying-club aerodrome with three runways; CNY3 hosts private, charter, training and medevac flying on a 5,000-foot asphalt runway and is an Airport of Entry for eligible small arrivals. Neither has airline service or a terminal product.

Can you fly into Clearview on a commercial flight?

No -- no commercial airport exists in the township. The scheduled gateways are Toronto Pearson (YYZ), with Billy Bishop (YTZ) as the downtown alternative in the same road class; both are ground-leg destinations from Clearview, not township airports.

How do you get from Clearview to Toronto Pearson?

Drive -- 90.3 km straight-line (computed), about 122 km by road and 120 minutes' estimated driving computed from Stayner, via Highway 26, Barrie and Highway 400 -- or book a private transfer with its operator. No direct scheduled coach from Stayner to Pearson is verified on the surfaces reached; public transit runs in legs via Barrie, read with their operators.

Can a private aircraft clear customs near Clearview?

Yes: Collingwood Regional is carried as an Airport of Entry / 15 in the CBSA directory, and Lake Simcoe Regional publishes customs 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Arrangements are made with the CBSA and the airport before arrival.

Is there a layover guide for Clearview?

No, honestly: the township is a destination at the end of a ground leg from Pearson, not a connection point. It is a pre-trip or post-trip stay for a Pearson journey.

Does Lake Simcoe Regional have scheduled flights?

None is published on the carrier surfaces reached, and none is asserted here. CYLS is the region's full-service, customs-capable airport for charter, corporate and private flying.
