Indoor activities

Indoors in Clearview: one arena campus, two library branches and a township of halls

Rain and January ask the same question, and Clearview answers it with the buildings it actually has: the Stayner arena campus, the library branches and the village halls. Here is the indoor bench, honestly sized.

The bad-weather bench

Stayner is the working centre: the Administration Centre on Gideon Street, the Stayner Community Centre and Arena at 269 Regina Street -- home ice for Clearview Minor Hockey's Canucks and the Stayner Siskins junior club -- with the Stayner Branch of the Clearview Public Library sharing the Regina Street campus. Station Park, on Highway 26, is the downtown green and the gathering point for the township's biggest evenings. Main Street carries the shops, the Heritage Society's Tourism Information Centre sits at 220 Huron Street, and the Clearview EcoPark gives the town a pond-and-trail walk at its edge.

The halls are the second bench: every community keeps one -- Avening, Dunedin, Duntroon, Brentwood, Nottawa, Singhampton, Sunnidale Corners -- and between the Small Halls Festival, hall-board suppers, dances and community programmes, an indoor evening exists most weeks somewhere in the township. Its grid lives with the halls and the festival, never copied here.

The campus

Arena + library, 269 Regina Street, Stayner

Public skating and hockey at the Community Centre & Arena, programmes next door at the library -- the township's one-roof bad-weather answer, in the seat.

The halls

Seven village halls, township-wide

Concerts in autumn, suppers, dances and community nights through the year. The Small Halls Festival (Sep 18-Nov 7, 2026) is the programmed peak; the hall boards carry the rest.

The schoolhouse

New Lowell Branch library

A small, warm, book-lined room in the village's old schoolhouse -- the rainy-day stop on the township's southern loop, with its own programme grid on LibCal.

What is not here

There is no cinema, no bowling alley, no pool and no museum building seated in the township on the surfaces reached, and none is invented to fill this page. Collingwood's and Barrie's indoor benches are those cities', reached as outings. The Stayner Heritage Society's Tourism Information Centre at 220 Huron Street is the township's heritage desk -- an information and heritage stop, printed as one, not inflated into a museum.

The fair-weather exception that is indoors anyway

On GNE weekend the fair's barns and exhibit halls carry a full indoor-outdoor day in any weather -- homecraft, livestock and exhibits under roofs at the fairgrounds, September 25 to 27 in 2026.

The youth and recreation layer

The Township's recreation programme grid -- lessons, youth programming and community courses run from the arena campus and the halls -- is the indoor layer's working half, read on the Township's own surfaces for the current term. The township's brochure mapping carries a Clearview Youth Centre in Stayner as its youth-programme address.

Common questions

What do you do in Clearview on a rainy day?

The arena-and-library campus in Stayner, a library programme in New Lowell, or a hall event in one of the villages. For a cinema or a pool, the honest answer is the drive to Collingwood or Barrie -- those cities' benches, in their own names.

Is there public skating in Clearview?

The Stayner Community Centre & Arena is the township's main ice, home to the Siskins and the Canucks; public-skating grids live with the township's recreation surfaces and are read there.

Does Clearview have a museum?

No museum building is seated in the township on the surfaces reached. The Stayner Heritage Society staffs the Tourism Information Centre at 220 Huron Street -- heritage help and local knowledge, printed at that strength.
