Things to do at night
Clearview at night: the arena, the hall, the market -- and the dark
After dark, Clearview offers exactly what it has: a game, a concert, a market evening, a pub table and some of the darkest skies in Simcoe County. Here is the night at its true size.
The event, then the dark
The Clearview evening is honest and thin, and this guide prints it at its true size: a Siskins or Canucks game at the Stayner arena in season; a Small Halls concert in a village hall through the autumn; a pub table in Stayner -- Friends Pub & Grill on Highway 26 is the documented local form, known for burgers and team-sized welcomes; the Thursday market's licensed gazebo evening in summer; and, once a year, the Witches Walk filling downtown Stayner on the Friday before Halloween. There is no nightclub strip in this township and none is claimed: Clearview stays up for hockey, halls and harvest, and goes quiet honestly after.
The rural part is real and worth printing: away from Stayner's streetlights, the township's sideroads sit under genuinely dark skies -- the escarpment brow above Duntroon and the concession roads around Singhampton are stargazing country on a clear night, with no ticket, no venue and no programme. Country-dark is an attraction this township has never had to build.
The evening, in three parts
The standing night
A Siskins or Canucks game, or the library's evening hours on the same campus -- the township's reliable weeknight pair, in season.
The touring night
Pick the night's hall -- Avening, Dunedin, Duntroon, Brentwood, Nottawa, Singhampton -- and drive to it. Twenty-plus nights, September 18 to November 7 in 2026.
The summer night
Market, cars, gazebo music and the licensed area until 7:30 p.m., June to late August -- the township's weekly summer evening, free to wander.
The dated nights
Three nights a year outrank the rest: the Witches Walk (Friday October 23, 2026, downtown Stayner in costume), Winterama's Friday fireworks at New Lowell Recreation Park (February), and fair weekend's grandstand nights in September. Each is printed with its date because its organizer publishes it; everything else is a form in its season.
The honest limit
After the event ends, the township is quiet -- no late dining strip, no night transit, dark sideroads home. This guide prints that as the character of the place, not a gap to apologize for: Clearview's night is an event and a sky, and both are good.
Common questions
What can you do in Clearview tonight?
Check three grids: the arena's (a game in season), the Small Halls Festival's (an autumn concert night), and the library's (an evening programme). In summer, Thursday is market night at Station Park. Outside those, the honest answer is a pub dinner and dark skies.
Are there evening library programmes in Clearview?
Yes -- the Clearview Public Library runs evening hours and programmes at its Stayner and New Lowell branches (the Creemore Branch's programmes are Creemore's own records). The grid lives on the library's LibCal calendar.
Is Clearview good for stargazing?
The rural concessions away from Stayner sit under dark country skies, and the escarpment brow is the township's high, dark edge. No organized astronomy programme is documented here, and none is claimed -- it is a bring-your-own-blanket sky.
